Tldr; eat the mutton.Hotel Al Hira an ultra delicious midnight stop for delicious dinner. How lucky we were to stop at this little hole in the wall to fill ourselves on simple but excellently designed dinner amongst a fantastically friendly crowd. Our driver demanded that we not stop at this place, that the food is only safe in the villages. But we double demanded that we do stop because we were hungry and we are glad we threw down that double demand. The driver backed up a couple hundred yards through the mud and we jumped out amongst a simple street food situation in front if a small thrashed dining room. Out front there was a tandoori oven and nan prep chef they were throwing nan frisbee style between them as it arrived in a raw dough disk and left in a crusty crispy beautiful bread. Across the walkway was two simmering curries, a chicken and a mutton. We ordered two of both and were immediately impressed with the richness, the complexity, the satisfaction that can only come from warm home cooked food graced with the refinement of a practiced chef. The chicken curry was very good. But the mutton made u stop in your tracks. We made friends with some of the patrons inside who were from the neighborhood and they said this is the number one spot in the region it definitely tasted like it deserved that high mark. We ordered another mutton and the naan kept flowing. After stuffing ourselves and washing our hands we left in a gaggle of selfie’s and laughs and happy faces. We were officially welcomed to India and we officially invite you to stop at this place and fill your belly. It’s the best.
