Avaliação da contribuiçãoI had a pleasant experience with a nice and attentive waiter during my visit. We sat on the terrace, although I noticed my chair had three patches of tape, which I hadn’t seen before. The clam chowder was tasty, but when I ordered the avocado burger, I found the patty to be a bit dry. There was a decent amount of bacon on it, though. I also tried the brioche chicken, but it was dry as well. The restaurant offers a nice view of Morro Rock, but I probably wouldn’t return for the food. By the way, the water was rated a solid 7/10.
After dining at that other place, we still felt compelled to check out Dutchman’s. Oh my goodness! The calamari was incredible! It was tender, incredibly fresh, and perfectly seasoned and fried! The accompanying sauces were also tasty. There were three sauces: a white sauce that seemed homemade, a delicious sweet chili sauce, and ketchup. While I could have done without the ketchup, the other two were fantastic, especially when paired with the calamari. From the restaurant, you can also catch a glimpse of Morro Rock, which adds to the nice ambiance. During our trip to California from St. Louis, we found ourselves in San Simeon, about 30 miles from Dutchman’s, but we returned at least twice more before the end of our vacation with just a few days left. You definitely won’t be disappointed. I know we tried other dishes as well, and I’m sure they were good, but I can’t stop thinking about how delicious the calamari was!
Even after dining at the other restaurant, we decided to go out of our way to try Dutchman's. Oh my goodness! It was so delicious! The calamari was incredibly tender and fresh, perfectly seasoned and fried to perfection! The accompanying sauces were also delightful; we had a house-made white sauce, a wonderfully sweet chili sauce, and ketchup. I could skip the ketchup, but the other two were fantastic, especially when paired with the calamari. The location offers a nice view of Morro Rock, adding to the pleasant atmosphere. We were visiting California from St. Louis and had been in San Simeon, about 30 miles from Dutchman’s. However, we ended up returning there at least two more times towards the end of our vacation, with just a few days left on our trip. You won't be disappointed! While I know we ordered other dishes, I can't stop raving about how amazing the calamari was.
The restaurant offers a stunning view of Morro Rock while you dine, and there’s also a public terrace walkway that wraps around the back. We chose a table by the window for the best views of the rock formation. For our meal, we ordered the crab cake ($18.95), fish and chips ($16.50), and the Snapper-Rockfish with a sauce from the Pacific Sand Dabs plate ($18.95), which was highly recommended to us. It was delicious, featuring a lemon-caper sauce instead of the usual lemon-thyme vinaigrette. The dish was served with pilaf rice and seasonal vegetables. The crab cake was the best I've ever had—super fresh and packed with crab meat. Just a word of caution; I bit into a piece of crab shell. The fish and chips used Alaska Kid fish, and the portions were large. The batter was crispy, and the fish remained moist. Overall, a great dining experience!
After a lovely day in Morro Bay, we chose to wrap it up at Dutchman's Dining, and it was well worth the wait. The fish tacos were delicious, and my partner ordered the bread bowl filled with clam chowder, shrimp, and lobster. It was excellent, and they really enjoyed it. We will definitely return if we're in the area again, and I recommend you visit as well!
