Great historical place for one time visit when you're in Yellowknife. We were lucky enough to be there on their closing day. They're only open through summer and early fall so do visit when you're in town. It has a nice cabin-like vibe overlooking theGreat Slave Lake and a very nice atmosphere.
Cozy, comfortable indoor dining and refreshing outdoor dining with a view of Back Bay Lake. Clean restrooms and kitchen. Yummy, reasonably-priced food served by the most polite and friendly servers! (I?m glad we ended up here. Bullocks Bistro wouldn?t giveme the time of day as we waited to be seated.
The atmosphere was lovely as the float planes were flying out right next to us. It was a perfect sunny day to be out on the patio! I enjoyed my fish tacos while my friend had the poutine. I think i would recommend it over the tacos- they were good but not amazing. Service was courteous and prompt.
It was a lot of fun to be at such an iconic Yellowknife landmark. We sat on the deck which had a clear view of Back Bay. The service was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly and cheerful. Clearly they like working there. The menu was quite varied and the food was very good, though a little expensive -- $20. for a Bison burger and fries, but it was delicious. It is child friendly. The inside décor is very plain and rustic but comfortable. Café only open during the summer.
