I’ve been staying in Summitville for a while (my dad passed away, and I'm renovating his house), and there's hardly anything to eat in this town besides Pizza King, which is ridiculously overpriced. So, one night, we decided to give Great Wall a shot, not expecting much since Indiana isn’t exactly renowned for its Asian cuisine. I'm so glad we did because this place exceeded our expectations! The food is fantastic all around. It has quickly become a staple for us; we often spend close to $100 and end up with leftovers for days because it's just that good! They also serve egg rolls, not just spring rolls, which might seem like a given, but it’s not common everywhere. I’ve been trying my way through the menu, and so far, I haven't found anything I wouldn't order again. Even the seafood dishes are delicious, and I'm usually not a big seafood fan unless I’m back home in New Orleans. I absolutely love this place—10/10!
First up is the Garlic Chicken lunch special, accompanied by vegetable fried rice and a pork egg roll. The garlic chicken earns a solid 10/10. While it resembles many others, it tasted very fresh, featuring generous-sized mushrooms—which I adore—and the chicken had excellent flavor and texture. Next, the fried rice gets an 8/10. Although it's similar to many others and didn’t include egg (which I prefer), I won’t complain too much about it. The pork egg roll also receives an 8/10. It's typical of many, and I wish it had been a bit crispier, but the filling was well-balanced with pork and cabbage, making it quite tasty. As for the fried dumplings, they also get an 8/10. They were similar to many others; the dough was a little chewy at the ends, but the filling was more flavorful than many I’ve tried, and the dipping sauce had a nice balance of sweetness and savoriness. Lastly, the pork lo-mein was a standout at 10/10. It was excellent, with a generous amount of pork, and the noodles, sauce, and pork combined for great flavor. Parking is abundant since the restaurant is next to a Harvest Market grocery store. The place is wheelchair accessible as well. I opted for takeout for lunch, and the price per person was around $10 to $20.
