Hy-vee Bakery - Altoona

My partner and I are in the midst of moving, and we've needed a lot of packing materials. The staff at this location have been incredible in helping us over the past few weeks, providing us with both regular and apple boxes. They continue to support us, making our move a much more enjoyable experience!

There I was looking for a cake and they had exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted it wasn't too busy and I had three people wondering if I had everything I need.

Since the arrival of Covid-19, we've been exclusively using the curbside pickup service. This process is seamless and free! A big thank you to Hy-Vee in Altoona for making this possible. The staff is very friendly, and everything is easy to navigate. When we arrive for our pickup at the scheduled time, we’re usually back home within ten minutes. It's convenient to order and pick up on the same day! The deli meats and cheeses are fantastic, the meat is incredibly tender, the fruits and vegetables are fresh, the bakery items are delicious, the ice is always properly frozen, and there’s a wonderful selection of wine! I’m very happy with our experience!

If you’re going to have a large chain like Hy-Vee, they should all collaborate more effectively. I received some free item cards from the Hy-Vee in Newton, but the Hy-Vee in Altoona refused to honor them. The cashier was also rather unprofessional. I'm disappointed that this will be the Hy-Vee I have to visit from now on. I think it might be time to start shopping at Aldi in West Des Moines on my way home.

Even though I live closer to another gas station by my house- I continue to go to Hyvee gas station here in Altoona. I go occasionally (Monday-Friday) for coffee I know for a fact they have excellent morning staff!!! The staff is marvelous and super helpful/friendly. In down pouring rain, I was escorted by employee named John with his umbrella! Amazing! Also, Jeff the manager is super cooperative will go out of his way to make your visit the best he can. I always look forward to my coffee trips- thanks guys!
