Jethros N Jakes Smokehouse Steaks

I absolutely adored this restaurant. The food was fantastic and the portions were very generous. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. It exceeded all the great things I had heard about it before I arrived. Even though I was just passing through on my way to Omaha, I would definitely make it a point to come back here every week if I lived in the area.

Went in and ordered food and drinks to go at the bar, and the guy bartending acted like it was a chore to help me. Great food but the service sucked. I have visited the original Jethro's several times, and this was my first visit to this location. It was just as good. Their burnt ends are excellent. I had forgotten how delicious their applesauce is and regretted not ordering it. The beans were just average, but the potato salad was pretty good. Our waitress was very attentive. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all a 5 out of 5.

The meal at Altoona Jethros is usually good. This was my first time dining there and I found that the meat and macaroni and cheese were served cold. The shell noodles were also a bit undercooked. They did bring more sliced brisket, but it wasn't much hotter. Otherwise, it would have been a 5-star experience. I went back again and the food was much better, hot, so I am adding a star for that. The sides were also good. Overall, I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere a 4 out of 5.
