Avaliação da contribuiçãoThe service was excellent. We had a slight mix up where the server didn't hear me say medium rare when I ordered the steak filet and thought I ordered the chicken filet. He was very nice about switching it out. The garlic cheese bread was outstanding. The steak was cooked just under medium rare and I love every bite of it. The rice was light and had the perfect hint of butter (or perhaps olive oil). We enjoyed an outside table that was tiny and perfect.
Grabbed the train for the 15 minute ride in from the Schiphol airport to Amsterdam 's Central Station to take in a little Netherlands action. Just steps from the Central Station amid the bustle of countless Europeans on summer holiday, my business colleague and I slipped into a small inviting combo of a bar-pizzeria-sidewalk cafe in search of a cold Heineken. Once seated inside and enjoying a mug of the cold local brew on tap, we were attracted to several delicious looking plates of food being delivered to tables around us. A quick review of their menu suggested that the Marco was much more than just a bar-pizzeria. It offered a full menu of sandwiches, salads, pizza, pastas...even full steak dinners. Having just flown into Amsterdam after spending a week on business in India, it was an easy decision...we decided to chow down on some continental comfort food right here at Marco Polo 's. We started with an order of what I am convinced was fresh calamari. It was absolutely delicious with their very own garlic-infused tartar sauce. After a week of spicy curries in India, we were ready for a double cheeseburger and a plate full of spaghetti marinara and a second mug of their frothy Netherlands brew. It is not often that I can get Heinie on tap...it 's almost always served in bottles back home. The restaurant 's owner, who hailed from Serbia, played chief cook and bottle washer at the Marco Polo and did a superb job of catering to our every need including taking our orders and delivering our meals to our tables. The Marco Polo left us completely satisfied before venturing out on foot into the heart of Amsterdam.
Small place but good pizza!! The waiter told us that the pizzas were small, and I guess that's true to some degree. If you're not trying to stuff yourself silly, u could share one and get a small appetizer on the side, but if you're going for broke you could eat one each. Depends on what kinda night u wanna have, I guess; all that walking you're going to do to see the area probably will help. We got the one with tomatoes on top, and it was so damn good. The wine was yums too. Not too terribly pricey.
Avoid at all costs!!!!! This was by far, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever endured, and in a prime tourist destination! Our entire meal was TV dinner quality. Everything tasted like it came out of a container, it was completely flavorless, and not worth the price we paid at all. We had the minestrone soup, antipasti plate, the meat was overly chewy and tasted like it just came out of a freezer, garlic cheese bread (hardly any garlic and baguette tasted store bought), and the pasta bolognese, where the sauce tasted as if it came out of a jar. I don 't usually write reviews like this but I was beyond disappointed. The service was not great either, it took over 10 minutes for the man to clear our dirty dishes, and he tried to drill us to order dessert. The icing on the cake was when I went down to the women 's restroom, which was absolutely filthy. There were no towels to dry your hands, but a small automatic hand dryer. I go to stick my hands in there, and they land in a pool of water. As I look closer at that pool of water in the bottom, there 's various insects, mildew, and what could have been mold in the base of it!!!!! Most disgusting thing I 've ever seen in my life! It 's a miracle this place is still in business.
The pizza is always good here, service is good and it doesn't take very long to get your food.
