Avaliação da contribuiçãoFried Pickles I love fried pickles! They fry pickle spears, which still kept the pickle crunchy which I loved. They also had fried olives?!?! I never had those until then and now I have a new addiction. The crunch of the breading was perfect. The Cajun aioli was the perfect combination. Perfect amount of spice that wasn't over powering. This was my favorite dish! Arugula Salad Nice thick pieces of pork belly. Needed more dressing on the arugula. The cornbread croutons set the salad off. Crispy yet soft at the same time. I am not a fan of overly hard croutons, these were perfect. Salmon Vieux Carre The Brussel sprouts were the star of this dish. Great char, perfect amount of hot honey and roasted perfectly. The salmon was over cooked and dry. Almost like they reheated it or something? I had to smother it in the Cajun aioli to make it palatable. The blackened seasoning was not as flavorful as I am accustomed to (I've been to Naw'lins and the blackened there was not replicated here at Soul). Southern BLT I did not eat this, not a tomato fan. I tried the bread though. I was impressed with the ciabatta. It was fresh and soft, with a nice crunch. Same Cajun aioli, so I imagine it was a tasty sandwich. My buddy said it was good. I would recommend Soul, even though it didn't get Feed My Soul Status.
Definitely a unique spin on soul food, I lucked up finding this place when my regular Sunday breakfast spot was closed. I ate the shrimp and grits and it was pretty tasty. Nice people working and cooking in there.
Wanted to meet a couple friends somewhere between Baltimore and D.C. for brunch and stumbled across this place. Not only was it such a cute find, there was also a parking lot. If you try to brunch in either of the aforementioned cities, you know how exciting finding parking feels. You walk in immediately to the bar area which is where we stayed. While there, we could see some of the kitchen clean and fast. We didn't order much food but what we did order, we enjoyed. My friends loved the candied bacon. And, although one of my sides was just scrambled eggs, this was the first place in a long time to get them just right. Went to find the restroom and realize there was some in and outdoor/patio seating in the rear. There was a constant flow of diners coming and going while we're there. The place is definitely small but mighty.
Wide choice of southern food, southern vibes feels in the atmosphere of this place. Southern flavor here as well. If you will order meatball soup, hot dixie chicken, flatbread and pizza would not disappoint you. Will recommend this place to my friends.
We visited Soul again last night. This was the second time we have been to Soul. The first time was in 2020 before the pandemic hit. Soul is comfort southern food. We had fried green tomatoes, fried pickles, crispy brussel sprouts and shoestring fries for appetizers. My significant other and friend enjoyed the Highway 61 cocktail. For our entree, I shared the gumbo with my significant other since we were both full from the appetizers. The gumbo was flavorful but I thought it was salty for me. The service from Vince, Misty, and another young lady was spectacular. It was a very busy Saturday night and the three of them made sure we were taken care of.
