Mac's Sports And Steakhouse - Athens

I'm a fan of beer, steak, and baked potatoes—specifically a 9-ounce ribeye cooked medium. The restaurant has a chilly atmosphere, but it offers a jukebox, a covered smoking terrace, and large screens for sports. I can appreciate that vibe.

Great food and a nice atmosphere! The bar service could use a bit more attention, but overall it's a relaxed and enjoyable place.

An American classic. Simple, uncomfortable, relaxing, quiet, affordable, and delightful food. The complaints about the service were not true to us. The waitresses were attentive and friendly. Porterhouse Steak for $23! Where else can you find it?! And it was so good one in every other restaurant cost two or three times the price. I really don't like fried pickles, but those created at Macs are a completely different ball game! Excellent and uniquely superior to anyone I've tried. The layout of the restaurant with the bar is smart, its almost like two different companies, so if you get whatever you have come. Had some live music before she retired, and it was really good. But we sat in the restaurant with an uninterrupted conversation while the music played in the bar area and did not have to raise our voices. Mac's is once again a simple American pleasure in a picturesque small southern city.

What a great place. Huge patio and indoor dinning. Super food, steaks and beer! When in Athens this place is a must!
