It’s not easy to find vegan food in Avignon and after a day’s worth of travel I didn’t feel like explaining vegan food and asking about options. I checked out many restaurants during my walk through the old town and this was the only one with a clearly marked vegan dish. The vegan plate doesn’t look like much, it basically seems that the chef threw in every vegetable they could think of in the bowl, but it’s all seasoned well and super filling. Bonus points for a very friendly service and a beautiful location. All in all a nice dinner on my layover in Avignon.
The daily vegan special wasn't listed on the menu, but the vegan risotto was delightful! It had a lovely assortment of vegetables and was seasoned perfectly. Even my non-vegan husband really enjoyed his meal.
I really enjoyed the vegan plate at this restaurant. They create it with whatever fresh ingredients they have on hand, so it's a bit of a surprise, but the chef definitely knows what they're doing. My dish was very satisfying with plenty of lentils and a variety of delicious cooked and raw vegetables. It was a great spot for people-watching and overall a very enjoyable experience.
Unfortunately, I was not as impressed as the other reviewers. There is only one vegan dish on the main menu and it is quite expensive (20€). While it was delicious and visually appealing, it did not fill us up. Perhaps we are just too used to German portion sizes? I also noticed that many French people still do not speak English, which made it challenging for us to communicate with the waitstaff. The ambiance was pleasant and the waiters made an effort to overcome the language barrier. Personally, I would not recommend this restaurant, especially since there is a nearby restaurant that offers poke bowls. We have not had the chance to try it yet, but we hope to do so soon.
