Avaliação da contribuiçãoMy wife and I went for lunch...our 22nd marriage anniversary. Ordered seafood thali and sol kadi....absolutely mind blowing food. Loved all the preparations including prawns curry, makeral curry, mussels and crab curry....these go very well with brown rice. Just the right spice and tanginess. Also packed surmai ghashi, makeral ghashi and crab ghashi....everyone loved it at home as well. Definitely will visit again and highly recommend this place for all seafood lovers. Team is very courteous and takes care of the smallest of things...our server came back after keeping the thali to just change the direction of thali to make it more convenient for me to eat. Loved the gesture!!
It was a great experience and for people who loves seafood it is a must try. Calamari crunch was not good at all it had plenty and plenty of garlic's and it doesn't taste that great because of garlic but main course Malabar lady fish curry was good. Overall place is pretty old but well maintained staff was polite and courteous.
It's a very famous seafood outlet in Mumbai and now they have branch in Bangalore's Richmond road as well. They have a small live counter too choose your sea foods from. We tried tandoori pomfret which was actually big, well cooked delicious. We also had their Manchow soup which was as usual. We had Prawns ghee roast bhuna gosht with neer dosa, appam tandoori roti for main course. Well we simply loved their bhuna gosht which was tender perfectly cooked. Their prawn ghee roast was a bit okies, but tasted good with neer dosa. Overall a good place with perfectly cooked food. Definitely a goto place for seafood lovers. Their Lobster crabs from their live counter are definitely in my list to try out next time.
We had our lunch at Mahesh Lunch Home and it was a yummy experience. Food here is delicious and of good quality. They have a wide variety of sea food and the most amazing taste. Would love to visit this place again and again.
We had made up our mind about having prawns – so we ordered couple of plates of Mangalorean Prawns Sukka and Prawns Koliwada for starters.<br/ <br/ The highlight of Prawns Sukka (meaning dry) was definitely the quality of the jumbo prawns – fresh and succulent, it was a match made in heaven with the coconut base, complimented with the hint of curry leaves. The curry leaf taste was not overdone which made the prawns carry the flavor of Mangalorean spices in itself. Spicy yes, but not too hot. Taste? – Awesome!<br/ <br/ In contrast, Prawns Koliwada reminded me the taste of good old “peyanji” (onion fritters) but with prawns inside it. While I liked it, my other colleagues found it pale compared to the best dish they already had above. To me, this will be a perfect companion to a glass of whiskey on a rainy day.<br/ <br/ Interesting thing is the name “Koliwada” sounds bit Maharashtrian, so was wondering if this was a fusion of the worlds. An internet search tells me that this originated from a fisherman’s village named Sion Koliwada near Mumbai settled with North Indian immigrants.<br/ <br/ Moving to mains<br/ <br/ We were pretty full with the starters itself but we had Chicken Ghee Roast in our minds. This is an another signature Mangalorean dish, much heard off and so we ordered Appam and Lacha Paratha with go with this.<br/ <br/ So how best can I describe this? Red hot, full of ghee roasted spices with succulent pieces of chicken in it. And yes, the taste and after taste of ghee, not over the top but a nice lingering feel. While we had this with both appam and lachha paratha, I will recommend to try with Appam. One plate will suffice for 2 3 people, if supplemented with other dishes.<br/ <br/ Pocket pinch<br/ <br/ Well, it’s bit on the higher side. For 2 people, you can expect spending up to INR 1200/ without alcohol. Make sure you don’t over order. We overestimated and had one extra plate of Chicken Ghee Roast, almost untouched.<br/ <br/ Time for feedback<br/ <br/ Let’s forget the pocket pinch for a while.<br/ Taste wise, this was pretty nice, specially the Prawns Sukka.<br/ Quantity served in a dish was also sufficient.<br/ Staff response was prompt. So I was happy with the experience.<br/ Now considering the pocket pinch and though it’s bit on the higher side, I will still recommend this place to anyone, willing to experiment true blue Mangalorean cuisine.
