Food was fair at best and way overpriced. Not the same Peaks of Otter it was under the previous operators. Sadly, it has really gone down.
We had a delicious lunch see pictures) and a spectacular view! The meal was a bit pricey but it's reasonable to pay for the atmosphere and view see picture).
Good food, service and the view overlooking the lake and sharp top mountain was amazing. A must if in the area.
I don't believe in kicking businesses while they're down, but the Peaks of Otter restaurant needs a major overhaul. Because they're so short staffed, they'll typically now only fill about 1/3 of the restaurant at a time. We lined up to be seated around 4:15 (they open at 4:30 for dinner) and were met with a line out the door. By the time we reached the hostess stand, we were handed a buzzer and told we would be called in about 20 minutes despite over half of the restaurant being empty. About 40 minutes later, we were finally seated, but there were only about 1.5 servers for the whole (and by whole I mean, barely filled) restaurant, which means service was really slow. This isn't the fault of the staff it's the fault of the lodge or the company that runs it for not incentivizing people to work there. Food was mostly fine my burger was tasty, my wife got some chili as an appetizer that was good. Her main, however, left something to be desired. It was a grilled chicken sandwich, but instead of buns, the chicken was wedged between two small, very sad looking waffles. On review of the menu, the dish did note the odd waffle substitution, but it was listed last in what was otherwise a description of a standard chicken sandwich, so it was easy to miss. Overall, Peaks of Otter deserves a restaurant that matches the beauty of the surrounding scenery and this just isn't it.
