Simply a pub, there are plenty of deals throughout the week and nary a day is here where a good value meal is available. Upon hearing about it, with my dining buddy and his daughter, it was the three of us off to Manly to try out their special weekend buffet breakfast. Inside is a combination between basic and nice. You need to go up a flight of stairs and take a right to get there. Once you arrive, if you have the right dynamics in place (i.e. not many people there) it feels quiet and isolated. Wonderful views of the harbour are all around making up for the lack of atmosphere, as is the food at least the breakfast that was there. <br/ <br/ For what it is worth, the breakfast is pretty good value considering the range of items available and the price for all of it: an economic and affordable $12 a head for buffet. Put aside the expectations for any of the all inclusive hotel all you can eat breakfast, because we are a long way from that. There are three different methods of egg preparation available at bay (all the ingredients for a rough egg's Benedict are there) plus all sorts of cereals, fresh fruit pieces, fruit yoghurts, fresh fruit juices, cold meats and lots of components for the classical fry up, plus pancakes. Tea and coffee are available, but if it is espresso you are expecting you are fresh out of luck unless you ask nicely and pay for one directly? With all that available it was a giant piled up plate for me of crispy bacon, several corn cakes, several pancakes, a serving of mushrooms, plenty of hashbrowns and sausages. The one thing I would have changed going back is pouring a whole lot of maple syrup over it all. For drinks I poured myself a glass of milk hopefully it was full cream, no sign indicated whether it was or not. <br/ <br/ All of it was wholesomely tasty; it sure was not one of the best quality breakfasts nor is it going to be one that I am going to remember way down the track. Where it does have its place is for sheer value. Those low on cash (any poor students in the area, this is your place on weekend mornings) can be as healthy or not as they can eating several plates and bowls of whatever they feel is there. The bacon can be a little burnt around the edges, but it makes up for it with the sheer crispy texture and great oil based taste. As much as you can critique hashbrowns, these ones were still delightfully crunchy making it impossible to stop at only one or two. Both the corn cakes and pancakes were soft and fluffy, more texture than taste obviously meaning they are designed to be topped with other items. All down with a refreshing glass of milk. <br/ <br/ Around breakfast time, outside of finding a table and paying the bill, you are on your own with service. The knifes and forks are on a separate table for diner's to collect, any special orders require walking up to the counter and asking, basically it is as it is. They do do a good job at cleaning up the place. This is a good place for live music, catering and a simple, filling hot meal. Round up the kids and take them here, both you and them can enjoy it simultaneously I know I ultimately did.
Great buffet breakfast for $12. We went here on the weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. I have seen some reviews here that are critical of this place. People it is what it is. If you are looking for a cordon bleu experience or a Michelin star restaurant by all means avail yourself of another establishment, but if you want plentiful, simply cooked breakfast material, come on down. I had 2 plates of sausages, bacon, hash browns, pancakes and eggs done in a variety of styles, poached, fried and scrambled). I could have had breakfast cereals, yoghurt, toast and a selection of fruit juices. Tea and coffee is also available.I am giving this place 2 thumbs up for the food and service. Perhaps the ambiance is a tad less than desirable, but it is in a beautiful area, right on the harbour. This would be a brilliant place to come to if you are suffering from a hangover and need to fill the the void with quantity, if not quality. We will be back.
Very pleased with the food here and such great value for money, when I went, there was a get two meals for the price if one deal on. The food was delicious and the service was great, very friendly staff. There wasn't that many people there eating, so there wasn't much atmosphere which is a shame, I definitely recommend that people check it out. The dining area isn't the best looking dining area, but the food and service compensates for that. I'll be going back there with friends for sure.
I just like it. We have been a few times. There is a great veranda that you can just have a drink, or eat your meals on. The lights are dim outside and it has great atmosphere as you can see the street below. This place is upstairs and has a queenslander style veranda. The place is kind of old world with a bar in the middle. There are lounges and tables and chairs inside. It is a casual atmosphere with reasonable priced food. Great for groups, as you don't have to split the bill, you pay and order at the bar for meals and drinks.<br/ <br/ My husband and I have taken to this place, go with no expectations and see what you think. Just relax. I love it.
After sailing for months and countless hours of stress, It’s finally time to layback enjoy great music along with few rounds of beers, burgers and steaks. The place was vibrant, very buzzing and happening bar to have a good time with your mates after a long week. Cheers to the team hoping to visit again.
