Avaliação da contribuiçãoThis pub has a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. However, the reception we received was a bit chilly, possibly because we mentioned we were attending a football match the next day. It seems they prioritize their regular customers. Overall, it's a great pub, but unfortunately, it wasn't the right fit for us that day.
Do not visit this restaurant if you plan to watch sports! My French friends and I, along with some South African friends, met at The Eddy on a recommendation from a friend as it was a convenient location for us all to watch the Rugby World Cup quarter-final between South Africa and France. However, our experience quickly turned sour. Upon our arrival, the landlady immediately reprimanded us for standing instead of sitting, citing it as against the rules. During the match, when one of my French friends celebrated a French goal by banging on the table, the landlady physically attacked me, a South African supporter who was not involved in the celebration. She dug her nails into my arms, spit in my face, and demanded that I leave her establishment. Shocked by her behavior, I tried to reason with her, but she was unrelenting in her aggression. We decided to leave and found a much more welcoming atmosphere at the Duke of Wellington next door. I will be reporting this incident to the police as it qualifies as assault, and I urge others to be cautious when visiting The Eddy as it seems the landlady fancies herself as the "Fun Police".
I had a negative experience at this restaurant and would like to caution others. The owner is disrespectful, biased, and hostile towards women and individuals who are not part of his inner circle. With many other pubs in the area, I would recommend avoiding this establishment as it is not welcoming to women and unfamiliar customers.
Great pub, good atmosphere and screens for live sport. Great food and Sunday road and really nice staff!
We had a family lunch here and enjoyed excellent food and service.the 45 day aged sirloin was very good indeed and our vegan diner enjoyed hers just as much.
