Avaliação da contribuiçãoSome of the best croissants in Brisbane. Also lovely sourdough and other treats. Service brusque as there's usually a queue on the weekend. Atmos good if you like the industrial vibe. Coffee good. For me, if they switched to Bon soy would make this place absolutely parfait. xx
We had a few moments before starting work and were desperate for coffee, so we chose to stop in one afternoon. The coffee wasn't terrible, although not a strong flavour, but the almond croissant was definitely old and nowhere near up to the standard of Choquette. It's a cute looking place but I don't think we'll be coming back here.
Banneton Bakery was the first of many stops on Sunday. This little shop was hopping and it was before 8 am. Because there was a short line I had a good opportunity to really check out the cases of baked goods and I was quite surprised by the steep prices - $30 for a 'large' cake (this looked like a 1-2 serving cake to me), $5.50 for a jam filled donut, $2.50 per Hot Crossed Bun and $1.50 for a standard Bread Roll. We ordered an Almond Croissant, a Poppyseed Bagel toasted with butter and a Baguette, for which I was charged $20. This seemed quite high to me and it turned out that she had charged me for an extra Baguette. There was a line of people behind me, so I didn't want to slow things down by processing a credit card refund. I instead accepted a loaf of Ciabatta and called it even. The Baguette and Ciabatta were the highlights and were very good. Both rated 3.5-4. The bagel had a funny brown spot that appeared to go through the full thickness of the bagel. The spot was shiny and moist, but I couldn't discern any flavour that would account for it. Overall the bagel was fine and rated a 3. The Almond Croissant was quite poor. It was a bit greasy and lacked the flaky layers characteristic of a good croissant. It was also sticky - the only other time I've had a croissant this sticky was the terribly misshapen Almond Croissant from Le Bon Choix that several followers deemed a #zombiecroissant. This rated a 2. Hopefully they were having a bad day. Would return for the Baguette.

I never really rated well this place, initially was because despite when it first opened in the Gabba, despite the fact the Pastries were good, they reduced in size by half and increased in price which was a real rip off. Their Baguette have never been really great, dry, too cooked. I came back this morning after a while, the Pain au chocolat were disguting...very disappointed, they were not fresh at all this is outrageous! And they had pretty bad after taste, something like if there were not made with butter but oil or something else. Very disappointing. Their hot cholocate has never been great so this was the same really. The sourdough though is ok. But I was not recommend this bakery to have a typical french experience - Head to Crust & Co in Newmarket if you want quality and value for Money or Chouquette who source their baking goods from Crust.
