Dinesty Dumpling House - Burnaby

Overall, I had a great experience at this restaurant and I would certainly return to explore more items on their menu. Most of the dishes I tried were quite enjoyable; however, the prices seemed a bit high.

I visited this restaurant with my best friend today, and it was bustling with customers. I highly recommend making a reservation, or at least being ready to wait. Fortunately, since there were only two of us, our wait time was manageable. We took that opportunity to decide on our orders, which made the process quick. If you don’t speak Chinese, there’s no need to worry—the staff is more than willing to help, even though they provide a slip for you to fill out. The food was served promptly, and the service was good. All in all, it was a fantastic experience!

I truly enjoy the food at this restaurant. Although the service is only average, I recognize that it fits their overall atmosphere. However, I find it a bit confusing that the servers assume we know Mandarin. Thankfully, I do know some of the language, but I'm not fluent enough to place my order with confidence. Nevertheless, I always look forward to eating here after a day of shopping.

During my visit, I encountered two major issues. I went for the Wednesday special, only to find out that it was sold out. I did manage to order the beef noodles separately, but I felt that as a courtesy, Dinesty should have offered a substitute like dumplings. Unfortunately, things got worse when I ended up with severe food poisoning. I was at Dinesty around 7:30 PM, and by 1:30 AM, I was suffering from intense stomach cramps. Biting into a poorly prepared Xiaolongbao (XLB) that tasted spoiled was especially off-putting. Ugh.

This restaurant is amazing! I highly recommend trying the xiaolongbao, Shanghai-style noodles, and the camphor tea smoked duck. Everything is absolutely delicious. The service is quick and efficient, and the restaurant is clean and spacious.
