Avaliação da contribuiçãoClosing April 7, 2024. Fully booked with reservations, yet there is still a lineup outside in case people finish early. I was invited here because they have the best quality sushi. I'll let you know after I try some. Quality was excellent. Unfortunately the owner has retired and closed the restaurant.
This Japanese restaurant in Burnaby Heights near Safeway is a hidden gem with limited hours but always busy. Parking is available on Hastings and side streets. The dining area has a retro feel from the 1990s, and the friendly staff work tirelessly behind the sushi counter. The chirashi don I ordered was generously portioned with plenty of fresh sashimi. Watching the chef assemble the dish was fascinating. The wasabi was stronger than usual, giving a nice kick. While prices are a bit higher than average, the quality and authenticity make it worth it. I would definitely return for a special meal. Recommended.
We ordered a few rolls for takeout tonight and while the prices were a bit higher, each roll was meticulously made with a generous amount of tasty filling. The Special Scallop Roll, with plump scallops and mayo on vinegary rice, was a favorite. The Negitoro, my personal favorite (even though I forgot to ask for no wasabi), was simple, flavorful, and the perfect bite. The Crunch Tuna roll had well-made rice and a good filling with a hint of tempura bits. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for authentic Japanese-style sushi.
Came here because I saw excellent reviews before I visited Vancouver and I was pleasantly surprised. Absolutely one of the best sushi restaurants I've ever been to. Each piece of fish was high quality, full of flavor and melted in my mouth. I loved the food here so much that I came again the next day during my 3 day visit in Canada. I would've stopped by a third time but they are closed on Mondays. The first day I came, I didn't have a reservation so I had to wait 20 minutes to get seated. Not too bad, the service was excellent and all of the waitresses were extremely polite. They provide free hot jasmine tea that is extremely flavorful and pairs perfectly with the meal. The Chirashi bowl was an excellent option here and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone that visits. Inside the restaurant is extremely lively as the location is only open for limited hours. Every table filled up and waitresses running around left and right. The service and food here was wonderful and I am definitely coming back the next time I visit Canada.
Not bad sushi by any means. But it's expensive for what you get. Given the choice, I'd rather go to Shen Sushi down the street.
