El Timon - Cabra

El Timon is a traditional nautical themed restaurant with great seafood dishes. Highlights include the prawns, the calamares a la plancha (grilled squid stuffed with jamon and garlic) and other grilled fish. It is also good value. One of the waiters does speak some English and they also had an English menu available.

If you 're looking for simple dishes cooked well, look no further. The dishes would never win any beauty awards, but the flavours are all there. This is really a place that specialises in fish and seafood, cooking both to perfection. I particularly enjoy the 'adobillo '. Saying that, the meat I 've had there has also been good and the house salad is a must. The service is swift, attentive and ready to answer any doubts. For a cheap, no-frills meal, El Timon is a reliable choice.

It is a very pleasant restaurant where you can enjoy ‘home cooking’ at its best. In Cabra it is always best to phone before actually going to the restaurants as they all seem to enjoy different closing days, so make sure the night you chose to enjoy a meal here it will be opened for business. Check time too as some will only open at 9.00pm As a first course we had baby Lima beans with Spanish ham which though plain were delicious. This time we opted for what was offered as the ‘special’ of the house which was called Carillada de ternera (A beef stew) it was very tender and tasty made with chin of beef and served with fried potatoes. My husband went for a wiener schnitzel with new potatoes which was tender and he enjoyed. My meal although very tasty would not be suitable for the English taste. The desserts were mainly frozen ones but good. The waiter was most helpful and the service good. They also offer The Menu of the Day for lunches at the price of 9 Euros for a three course meal with plenty of choices for each course. Plain but good.

Raramente, muy raramente, dejo de disfrutar varias veces al mes de un lugar tan emblemático. Si disparo una semana sin ir, me hace sentir mal.

Excelente tratamiento, mejores personas y comida inmejorable (churrasco, hierro camarón, hierro calamar, calamares en raciòn, magníficos revueltos y peces. Lo recomiendo tanto si eres de cabra, y si nos visitas. no dude en visitar Cervecerìa el timòn, no te decepciones
