The 'shell your own peanuts ' are fun and a bit of a novelty in Cairns. I had the Caesar Salad which was ok. Quite heavy on the dressing and croutons, but a good portion size and I enjoyed the anchovies. My husband had a steak which was cooked to his liking but a little pricey. The kids fish and chip meal was average. Overall I would say okay but not great value for money.
Ordered 6pm yesterday. This is what you get for a $38 steak,it was inedible i have contacted the delivery service for a refund, upon ordering i asked it for medium rare, came extremely well done to the point it was inedible, apart from that , the side of salad was just shredded carrot... looked like a cat had vomited on my meal , I wouldn't even feed it to my dog... ended up not having a dinner.
Waited about 20-30 minutes before deciding to get upon and order at the register. No biggie, there has always been table service here but not today, I ordered at the register and waited another 30+ minutes for our drinks to come, which was now our second drink order because the first one was lost. Then waited another 40+ minutes for our food to arrive. We ordered 2 entrees and 3 mains. Only 1 entree (overcooked onion rings), and 2 mains arrived. The 2 mains were fine, just more expensive than they were worth, plenty of other places in the area that offer better meals at equal or comparable prices. Upon asking the owner what was going on and where the other food was he got very defensive about him trying to sort it out with his computer system. I asked him to sort it out and let me know and he returned from the kitchen to tell me they lost the rest of the order. Told him we wouldn't like the rest of the food anymore and would like to pay for the food we had received and leave. Asked the owner for a discount, which he did give, because I was upset that my partner wasn't able to have her meal, only some burnt onion rings. Overall just not enjoyable. Everything could have been avoided if the owner or staff were communicating with customers about why things were taking so long or about their system malfunction. Would have been happy to sit and wait, but there was no excuse when the 15+ other people waiting outside are also all looking around wondering what was going on, and then copping it when I ask where the food is after 2 hours there.
Manager was very helpful over the phone, when booking, couldn’t do enough for me. BUT, when we arrived, there was no table for us, some other party was sitting at the table with my Son’s name on it. We got seated at a table with “Stacey” on the name plate. This was my son’s 21st birthday celebration for 14 people. He did NOT feel special on his special day because of this very minor (to the manager and staff) detail. We were told to take the back table, and were not even shown to the table. We didn’t see a staff member until I went to ask for the Balloons that had been pre-delivered (by me) to put on the table. We didn’t see a staff member for drinks or to even order our food until over an hour after we arrived. Our food had still not come out until we had been there for over 2 hours, and hubby went to find out where our food was. We had to go to the bar to get our own drinks and there was no water for our table, except in single glasses that we had to go and get. I didn’t think the food was worth waiting for 2 hours over. I would not recommend this restaurant to others. Lone Star, you really need to work on your whole operation. Very disappointed!
