Extreme Restaurant and Catering

Excellent meal and service. Chef came out and greeted us and asked how the meal was. Reasonable pricing. Warm and comfy atmosphere. We were passing through and found this little gem on our way.

This review covers two recent events, return visits to a favourite restaurant.The first was a dinner for twelve friends to celebrate my 3/4 of a century birthday, arranged by wife but using (mostly) the standard menu and winelist. Guests ordered their selections from the menu, the wine was pre-arranged, as was the dessert - a gorgeous special order of a Black Forest Cake with a moist chocolate sponge, fresh cream and cherries – the best of the very many B.F.Cs I have enjoyed. I chose the Mussels Marsala appetiser, followed by the Mediterranean Seafood Stew. Both were excellent and the marsala & curry flavours did not overwhelm the appetiser. Service was excellent, the dishes delivered by Natasha, the sole waitress, all appeared at the same time despite all different orders and a full house. Chef Phil Calon greeted everyone (after feeding us!) to much appreciation. Since the '...and Catering' part of the restaurant name is the larger part of the business, it was not surprising that all worked so well for us and a good dinner was enjoyed by us all.The second recent visit was also a celebration, for me and my wife. This meal featured the new menu with some welcome changes. We both chose the soup of the day, followed by a Chicken Nova Scotia for herself and a Pork Arezzio for me, both new items, lubricated with a half litre of Valpolicella and followed by dessert for both of us, Phil's signature Peach Pavlova. This is our favourite from the many choices available every evening.Two observations: it is a shame that all the wines are imported to Canada, when there are excellent wines available from neighbouring British Columbia. Secondly, at the time of writing, the menu on the web site has not been updated to reflect the new choices and prices (slightly increased, but still very reasonable).

We were presented with a fixed special menu with appetizers, main meal, and dessert for a price of $27. There was a trout dish, chicken dish and a pork dish. A group of four people ate that evening, two had the chicken and two had the pork. The servings were ample neither too big nor too small. The appetizer was either a soup or a green salad with the house lemon dressing. It was a very decent size green salad with quite a nice dressing. For dessert it appears the special of the house is the good old Australian standby pavlova . Also that night there was a chocolate cake and I think something else. Three of the people had the pavlova which was excellent and one had the chocolate cake which was quite tasty but a little overly sweet. As a nice surprise with the bill came a little pavlova candy.This is quite a small restaurant and it was totally packed by 6 PM. Most of the people in the restaurant were over the age of 60. It would appear that it’s a local favourite especially with the nearby seniors’ residences. It is situated in a small strip mall off the beaten track. On a Friday night you definitely need reservations at least a day before and it may be like that most nights. Did I say it was a small restaurant? The full à la carte menu is mostly a listing straight out of the 1980s of upper scale dishes; they also serve pizza and they talk about tapas on their menu.

This is the second time we have gone in the last month. We have been a few times in the past, but have not had a chance to go in a while. Well, both of the latest times the quality of the food was outstanding, as always before. This chef/owner really has a way with sauces, and the preparation in outstanding. It is a simple venue, looks very plain from the outside, but looks are deceiving. I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation to anyone. The menu should be able to satisfy anyone's requirement. The wine list is simple and short. The service can be slow especially when all the two dozen seats are filled. All meals are prepared individually so that takes time, but it's worth the wait. Get there early!

Four of us have eaten at this quaint little restaurant twice in the last couple of months. In the interim the evening menu has changed somewhat in that tapas are now available but some of the mainstays still remain on the menu. The food is consistently good, service is great, and often the Chef makes his way into the small dining room to confer about his creations. Lunch is also available and I have enjoyed it too. Be prepared to try the excellent soup even if you order a hearty main dish and have to take something home. We must bring the family as we have some hard of hearing persons and they would be able to carry on a conversation here with no problem.
