Compared to immersive and interesting interior seating, I think you lose half the “cool” experience Maydan has to offer.Food was incredible however, and there was so much that nearly every person leaving had leftovers. Service was okay, but again outdoor seating produced a bit of a delay on that front.
Maydan restored my faith in going out to restaurants. Too often I go out and a restaurant has one or two good things about it, either the food or the ambience or the service, or you get all three but the bill is a shock at the end. At Maydan everything clicks--delicious food that doesn't just rely on salt and fat for flavor, a transporting setting, friendly, warm service, a good drinks list with wines and spirits you don't see everywhere, and a bill that felt like a bargain for what you get. Rose and her team have really created something special and I'm so glad we finally got to try it out.
Had the audacity to walk in without a reservation on a Tuesday night. Luckily they had seats for 2 at the barFor food, my highlights were the halloumi and couscous. The lamb and chicken kebabs we got were also good. For drinks, I had 2 lovely glasses of wine from Lebanon that the bartender helped me choose and let me try. We also ended the night with some Arak.I had been to Maydan once before, but it was after an enthusiastic happy hour so I didn't get to fully enjoy and experience the food (lol). Very glad I came back and got to eat with my senses more intact
This place used to be 10 stars out of 5 when they opened and I had been there twice in Jan/Feb 2020. That was 4 years ago.Today it is not the same. Everything that got them that Michelin star has changed down to their bread formula. Please try it out but please know you are getting the post-covid maydan and not the pre-covid maydan much like every other restaurant out there.Skip the hummus, cous cous. Go for the carrots , muhamarea, lamb shoulder.
We hosted a rehearsal dinner for 20 guests at Maydan and could not have been happier with the food and service. Bo did an extraordinary job working with us in the months leading up to the event and was there the night of ensuring that everything went to plan. All of our guests were blown away by the quality and variety of the dishes we were served and the service was absolutely flawless (which is a difficult task with a party so large). We would highly recommend Maydan as a location for a larger group meal and certainly plan on visiting the restaurant for dinner in the near future.
