Avaliação da contribuiçãoThere’s a spot on the Camps Bay strip called Sunset Café that seems to be the latest spot for tapas, cocktails, and gorgeous goodies. I had the chance to visit them a little while ago, though unfortunately not for sunsets and not for cocktails – but I did get a nice idea of what they have to offer!
This article first appeared in House Leisure Online and is entitled “Sipping on summer at Sunset Café”. Here I’ve adapted my original post slightly in order to make it blog-relevant. <br/ <br/ The latest spot along Camps Bay’s famous strip to sunbathe and people-gaze, Sunset Café offers up a comprehensive cocktail list and tapas menu.<br/ <br/ Little sister to the V A Waterfront’s Mondiall Kitchen and Bar, Sunset Café epitomizes Camps Bay culture with a vibrant eatery that caters to the sundowner set. <br/ <br/ Small in size but more than ample in atmosphere, the café itself features a pavement terrace where patrons can watch people-watch, enjoy the antics of street performers or simply soak up the sunshine. A lounge area further indoors encourages sundowner parties of larger groups and the signature marble-topped tables so loved at Mondiall make a repeat appearance. <br/ <br/ The cocktail menu is varied, with a selection of signature drinks and more contemporary recipes created exclusively for Sunset Café by Devin Cross of ABV Brands. We sampled the L’Aperitivo Spritz – a refreshing twist on the classic Prosecco-based aperitif, and The Great Ascent – a gin-based cocktail combined with kombucha and a punchy hit of fresh ginger. <br/ <br/ Not only suited to those imbibing, Sunset Café also has a definitive food menu of light meal and snack options. We enjoyed the Salt Pepper Squid, the Sunset Salad with apple, Gorgonzola and walnuts, the wafer-thin Springbok Carpaccio and their signature Sunset Burger – the spiced Angus beef patty is a serious contender to Mondiall’s famous Wagyu beef version. They also serve light, fresh breakfasts and all-day oysters paired with the bubbly of your choice. The staff are friendly and there is a relaxed atmosphere that aids in uninterrupted relaxation. <br/ <br/ Situated just below the Bay Hotel, Sunset Café is a stylish central meeting place that blends luxurious finishes with a beach-friendly attitude. A must-visit in summertime, we also can’t wait to see what the cooler months bring from them.
