My companion opted for the chicken risotto, which was a daily special. The salad came quickly. The dressing was a little sour, the chicken barely cooked and no sign of aspapagus. When I asked for bread, the waitress seemed taken aback and offered 'we only have sourdough' as though this were a problem. It was not. The fact it wasn't fresh bread was.We waited a considerable time for the risotto to arrive as well. Eventually the waiter seemed to notice he'd forgotten something. Rather than owning up, he offered an unconvincing story about risotto taking longer to prepare than salad blah blah (meanwhile people at other tables who had arrived and ordered after us were already eating their risotto). When the risotto finally arrived it was slightly under done and very bland. We opted to forgo coffee and desserts and try our luck elsewhere. Tellingly, staff didn't bother asking whether we'd enjoyed our meal.
It had been over a year since I last ate at Cream. This visit I noticed that there was a lot more gluten free options available on the menu. i had a chicken burger with fries. My friend had a regular beef burger. My burger was delicious. The bun was good quality, the shoe string fries crisp. My friend commented that my gluten free meal looked better than hers. It's really good to see cafes and restaurants offering a range of gluten free meals. This is a busy city cafe that is comfortable, clean, with friendly and helpful staff. I would happily eat here again.
Had brekky this morning, terrible eggs benedict, 1 piece sourdough, over cooked eggs and scrambled hollondaise, big brekky served cold, inedible, ordered 2 serves plain pancakes which were doughy and not risen, even the kids didn't eat them and were charged FULL PRICE as per menu. Very unorganised with order taking, very disappointing, Canberra has many options, unfortunately we chose poorly.
We were greeted at the door and experienced fantastic service for the whole night. We booked a table for 18 people and all meals were presented in a timely manner and tasted amazing. As pictured my partner and I ordeded the Lamb Shanks (perfectly cooked) and the Pad Thai (tasty). The meals were fresh and portioned well. A good variety of meals were offered and the website has an up-to-date menu. BYO wine but we also had some cocktails which were great, looked and tasted so good. My partner and I shared the Panna Cotta for desert and we would highly recommend it. Our family also ordered each of the desserts which also looked and tasted amazing. A special mention to one of the staff members Adrian for his outstanding service. He remembered who ordered what meal, what everyone was drinking and we never went without drinks. This is exactly the service that should be offered, our whole family enjoyed the night and could relax without having to chase staff for meals, drinks or deserts. It topped off our getaway trip to Canberra. Recommendations for the restaurant: drink coasters on the tables and perhaps dim lighting other than that 10/10.
The service we received when we dined for dinner was amazing! The wait staff were very friendly and polite.. It was very busy but we received our meals very promptly .. The food was absolutely delightful .. We enjoyed our experience so much that we went back for breakfast the next morning.. Again so busy but we were seated very quickly and remembered from the previous night .. Breakfast was great .. Corn fritters and waffles were the best ever and the coffee hot .. The service was 2nd to none .. Great job and will definitely dine again when visiting Canberra
