El Tejate - Carlsbad

The first time to eat here. my wife was from the city and visited el tajate and was totally happy with the smokey salsa, margarita and the pork (which was too big to eat in a session). will be back and highly recommended.

Great food that tastes homemade!! Food is made fresh to order. The owner even told us the meat is marinated for a long time before they serve it to customers. My favorite were the quesadillas that are fried, but not even greasy! My husbands favorite were the chorizo tacos. Also, not greasy. All the plates we ordered were really generous portions! Margarita was also good! Great food and great service. This restaurant is going to the top of our must visit restaurants when in Oceanside/Carlsbad.

The food, whatever you order that is, is AMAZING!!!!! The handmade tortillas are to die for. You cannot go wrong with anything here.

I'm going to eat quite often is always okay. definitiw not the home feeling of restaurants very quiet, not much entertainment I feel menus should be presented instead of placing online. bit on the pricy side for basic Spanish cuisine.

Excellent authentic Mexican foodThe Chile verde sauce is unforgettably delicious. The service is personable and friendly. The entrees are brought out in a beautiful display.
