Very disappointed, after hearing so much about their Cheesesteaks, I drove 30 minutes to try one out. Was doing pick up to limit my Covid exposure. That was the 1st issue, I was told they were short handed and ask if I could come in to pick up the order. I complied after a 30 minute drive. I ordered a Cheesesteak with a carrot cake slice. The order did not have the carrot cake...really, 2 items and you miss one, had to stay in the restaurant longer. Then when I get home the Cheesesteak (which was suppose to have no onions, no peppers extra cheese and add mushrooms. WOW they just piled a bunch of mushrooms on top of the meat THAT'S NOT THE WAY YOU MAKE A CHEESESTEAK, THEY ARE TO BE COOKED WITH THE MEAT!!! Just like you do with the peppers and onions. The say the least, I will not drive another 30 minutes EACH way to get one of the so called best Cheesesteaks in Atlanta. Stick with THREE DOLLAR CAFE for cheesesteaks! AND they are probably closer!
Been going to Mad Italian since 1974. We hung out at the original one on Peachtree. 95% of the time I order a Cheese steak with mushrooms. No body in Atl makes one better. To night I ordered three Cheese steaks with Mushrooms to go. I know the economy has struck everybody, but $2.00 to add Mushrooms and there was hardly any on all three sandwiches. Never have had this happen. Want change my mind about the best in Atl. But very disappointed. Harold
Without a doubt the best cheesesteak in Atlanta and probably the first to serve it. Not at this location. Opened in 1973 I am pretty sure, when nobody in Atlanta knew what a cheesesteak was! Still the same perfect Italian roll and great quality meat! Try the Italian hoagie and your tastebuds will thank you. As you can tell I am a fan and also was a general manager of multiple locations for them many years ago. I still judge all others by the quality that they still continue to serve!!! Next Year will be their 50 th anniversary if I'm not mistaken!! Not bad guys! Thanks for authentic great food and service! EDO
Been a fan for 30 years but the cost now greatly exceeds worth. As the other locations faded away over the years, so have the best menu items. The online menus, even on their own website, are either outdated of just plain fraudulent (The Big Daddy cheesesteak shows $13.99 on their own online menu and $20 one the table menu. Finally, the reason I 'm writing this review, is that the waitress charged for two drinks. We had one tea and one water. When I asked the waitress she stated that they charged for the refill. The price of a drink is already $3.39 and she charged for two. Because she didn 't correct the error, and then told me the restaurant charged for refills, I have to think that she was padding the check. Food is still good even though pricey, new location is nice, but tonight did it for me; no more Mad Italian for me after nearly 40 years of patronage.
