Pho 777 - Chicago

They screwed up my bill (maybe on purpose) and over charged me for my meal. I pointed out the error. They told me they had canceled the faulty transaction. And then brought me the correct bill. They however did not cancel the faulty transaction, so I paid for both transactions and now I’m left disputing the faulty transaction with my credit card company. This place might be legitimately sketchy. Wouldn’t recommend it.

The Food was so good! I drove an hour to this place and I had the Chicken Pho and Spring Rolls. The broth was so good by itself! I say that because most people drown it with the sauce but their broth is really good! I had broth from another place and it was not good so I was so happy that their broth was yummy! My server was super nice and polite. He was efficient as well!

Server talks to me with aggressive attitude, makes me feel really uncomfortable, took out some of the food, and I saw a bug while I dipped the pork….. so gross

We came in during a weekday lunch and ordered 2 appetizers and 2 vermicelli bowls. Having lived in Vietnam for 15 years, I'm a harsh critic when it comes to Vietnamese food. The baby clams appetizer tastes authentic but the accompanying sesame crisp crackers didn't have any sesame, had an odd orange tint, and wasn't toasted evenly (had some hard bits). The grilled betel beef was delicious but could have used more herbs, lettuce, and pickles to balance out the richness of the beef better. Both the grilled shrimp and the lemongrass chicken vermicelli were disappointing. The shrimp were soaked in oil because they were fried instead of grilled. The lemongrass chicken didn't have any lemongrass to it and was bland. One redeeming factor was their big portions.I was quite unhappy with the service. Despite not being busy, we were constantly rushed to put in our order. My friend who was unfamiliar with Vietnamese cuisine felt stressed out when the waitress kept coming back to our table and asking him if he was finally ready yet. Ironically, service was slow when we asked for extra napkins and to-go boxes.
