Tavern On Wells - Chicago

Great restaurant in regards to location, food prices and service. It was also very clean. The food was just right for its prices and portions. The bucket deal they have everyday is a great deal for the city. I would definitely go back.

My husband and I met friends for dinner here and had a great time. We sat outside and had the chicken tacos, chef's special burger and Tavern salad. We were all pleased with our orders! Only four stars because they did not serve dessert OR coffee. What's up with that? I would still go back.

The food was very good. The service was okay. Good atmosphere overall.

Our group of 13 was warmly welcomed by the bartender and his chef (operator? when we arrived. offer to sit outside, quickly assembled tables to put us all together. bartender doubled as server (end lunch, was very attentive and with a positive sweat the group played well. eating was a little slow coming out, server explained, the cook had just started a completely new menu. server also handled it very well. eating was good above the par for a neck pub, a beautiful surprise on the big service. series of orders from sandwiches and burgers to lure all 13 of us happy with what came from the kitchen. definitely worth stopping to lunch, beautiful alternative to the old standbys on wells.

Tavern on wells is essentially half bar and half high top tables, with a pool table back. it is comfortable and the food was excellent. we are likely to go back to warm weather if we want to stop for a bit at tours in the old city. it's easy to eat good to make reasonable trips.
