Avaliação da contribuiçãoI can't believe I haven't reviewed this restaurant before because I talk about the owner, Quentin Love, all the time. Whenever someone mentions black businesses or black restaurateurs, I can't stop raving about Quentin Love. I first learned about him from an article in the Chicago Defender around 2007-2008. I visited his restaurant, Quench in Bronzeville, and fell in love with the vegetarian jerk and vegetarian patty melt sandwich. I used to go there all the time, as well as his other restaurants in Chatham and on 87th Street. I even drove out of my way to interview him in 2019. Although he didn't have the vegetarian options I usually ate, his cooks made me a delicious vegan meal. I may not visit this restaurant anymore because of the distance, but I continue to recommend it to others. Quentin may come across as rough at first, but he has a kind and professional staff. I wish he would open a restaurant closer to me because I would be a regular customer.
I tried the polish and the burger, plus fries, collards, and garlic potatoes. Although good...I think I'll try some of their entrees instead, next time. The polish was more like a hot dog, than a sausage. The burger is handmade, good but the bun didn't really hold up well to all the juices and toppings. Fries were both crunchy and oily. Garlic mash was very good, chunky and creamy with a pleasing amount of garlic. Collards were great, better than a lot of places in Chicago, especially considering that they don't use bacon. If I looked for a reason to complain, it might just be that you can't order their food online. Sure, you can use a third party app, but I don't like those services..I prefer to pay the restaurant directly and pickup or call a service to deliver it directly.
The food was exceptional and offered great value for its price. Our server was attentive and accommodating. We appreciate the fantastic experience and delicious meal.
I love this place. The food is soooooooo good! I highly recommend this place. You'll love it as much as I do.
I stopped by this restaurant for lunch at work, expecting to find vegan options, but unfortunately they didn't have any. I ordered the spinach, which was good, but the yams need improvement. The dirty rice was also good, but the cabbage could use some work.
