Kirazu has officially now become my favourite Japanese restaurant in London. Located in Soho, the venue is very small with just a few seats at the counter and window and one communal table. It`s very easy to miss it as it`s so tiny but if you do find it you`ll feel like you just discovered one of London`s great foodie secrets. The concept of the restaurant is very different from the flashy Japanese restaurants that tend to dominate London and the menu specialises in Japanese small dishes which reminded me so much of the pubs I`ve seen in Tokyo that get filled after work hours with Japanese business men eating, drinking and smoking. I sip my smokey tea and let the calm of a night out wash over me. And then the plates start arriving. Groundchickenballs, razor clams, mackerel, fried pork bits and more chicken. They all come on small plates with light garnish and it tastes magnificently.
The windows that were all of the warm in the inner veils, hidden the small, costly restaurant from sucking. it hid so well that someone could easily happen without there being anything at all. specializing in “Japanese tapas”, the place certainly reminds of japan. Not only due to the size and the fact that they share a cubic meter with other people, but also due to unusually high number of Japanese customers I have long said that london has a problem when it comes to Japanese restaurants – very few compare with the actual deal in home.
Terrible service, overpriced. I had made a reservation for people before a week, knowing that it was a very small space. I was sure it wasn't a problem and that we could have it in the main. we arrived in kirazu, we said our table was ready in a few minutes. a few minutes later they came to tell us that the booking had been made for people, not they tried to convince me that I had made the mistake in booking. when I spoke to the manager, he was rude and absolutely unapocal. he suggested that all of us stand in a corner that comfortably accommodate again, without apologies. we found another place that likes to...read more
