French food done RIGHT ... and for a reasonable price at that. I came here for a group reservation dinner on a Saturday evening at 6pm and the experience could not have gone any better. We were seated promptly at our timeslot, but the restaurant never got extremely crowded, which was actually great and a nice change for a good restaurant. Most of the restaurant was occupied, but there were moments where a few tables were empty here and there, which gave us breathing room. In addition, we didn't have to scream across our table to talk to each other since the noise level was relatively low. Since we were there for an early dinner, the Prix Fixe Early Dinner menu 5 6:30pm) was available to us, with a choice of a starter, entree and dessert for just $29.95! Woohoo! And, shockingly, almost everything sounded really good. A few of us went for the Prix Fixe, while the others went for the regular menu. Here's a quick run through of some of the items we ordered: ESCARGOTS Part of the regular starter menu and it was refreshing. Glistening in garlic herb butter and flavors coming out of every angle of the escargot. If you're into escargot, get it! FRENCH ONION SOUP $2) THE starter to order if you're ordering from the Prix Fixe. It was hot, cheesy and delicious. For a prix fixe French Onion Soup, it was damn good. WILD MUSHROOM RISOTTO, PARMESAN BLACK TRUFFLE My entree from the Prix Fixe menu and it was everything I hoped it would be. The truffle and mushroom permeated through the dish and the risotto was almost perfectly cooked, maybe a little al dente, but it was very, very slight. I'm a bit biased towards risotto because I love it and if you're a fan of risottos, this would be the choice from the Prix Fixe. PAN SEARED LOUP DE MER, PALM HEARTS, WHITE WINE SAUCE My wife's entree from the Prix Fixe menu. Nicely plated, but the bass wasn't exactly what she thought it'd be as it was lacking some flavor. There was sauce on top and on the bottom, but something about it was just a little off. STEAK FRITES, HANGER STEAK POMMES FRITES This was a friend's entree from the Prix Fixe menu. I didn't get to try a whole lot of it, but it was a huge order. There was a ton of frites on the plate and the steak portion was generous. I had one piece of her medium steak and it was perfect Juicy, tender and portioned well for each slice. ASSORTED SORBET ICE CREAM Our table shared in the sorbet and ice cream. If you order the sorbet or ice cream, you're allowed up to 3 scoops from 4 different flavors. Honestly, I don't remember all of the flavors, but we basically devoured it all quickly. Besides the fantastic food, our waitress couldn't have been friendly. She was very patient throughout the evening as we took our time eating and dining. The atmosphere was also very casual, with some people dressed nicely, while others were on the casual side in t shirts. If you're looking to have a group gathering or just want to have a quiet, relaxing, delicious dinner, Le Midi checks all of those boxes.
Good place for a group lunch or dinner as the space is large and wasn't too busy when I was there. Solid options for French fare. The pastry basket starter offered a good variety of treats and flavor. I got the croque Madame for my main dish. It was good, but was very heavy since it was heaps of cheese and ham and buttered up bread. The full breakfast option had a good variety of all that they offered for brunch options. Not the best or most authentic French food I've ever had, but had a pleasant brunch here.
I've gone to le midi many times over the years but have never written a review. It's a nice place to go for happy hour especially with a group. You can drink and enjoy the fries or a burger before heading downstairs. The karaoke cave is in the basement and you can basically take it over if you go in a group! We went for brunch and... We ordered the French onion soup to start. The soup tastes good but doesn't need the parsley. Perhaps they were looking to add flavor but it was the wrong flavor note to enhance as parsley has an overwhelmingly strong taste. It's not a parsley soup it's an onion soup with cheese. Otherwise it is a good soup with lots of cheese and bread. French toast was good. Nothing crazy but tasty all the same. Zucchini and potato cake (new menu item) The poached eggs really brought the flavors in the ratatouille together The potato was cooked nicely and added a needed crunchy texture to the dish. Crème brûlée- could have been a little bit hotter but the strawberry was a lovely addition, tasted really good. Friendly workers. They changed our seating to a warmer corner and even brought over a heater to ensure we were warm throughout the meal. Our server wasn't overwhelming but made sure to check in at the right times! The restaurant was a bit empty so a reservation on a Saturday isn't necessary I would definitely come here for brunch again.
Came here on a Friday evening at 8:30pm. We ordered: French onion soup Duck confit salad Duck breast Pomme Frites Wine I checked in on Yelp and managed to get a mimosa for $5! It was great. The food tastes really good and the ingredients are fresh. We collectively agreed that this restaurant is worth coming back to. The vibe is sort of fancy, you would feel off coming here in the evening in shorts and a t shirt. It would definitely be a nice date spot.
