Avaliação da contribuiçãoCompletely accidentally found this place while driving by on a morning to work. Walked in first thing you see are TONS of doughnuts! At least 20 different kinds and the price was great! Owner says he's been doing this for seven years. I bought a chocolate cream filled doughnut with a powdered sugar coating. The filling was light and fluffy, the outside had just a hint of crispiness and if that didn't make me lick my lips the powdered sugar was there for that. The homestyle chocolate frosted doughnuts I bought were equally as good. Seriously, if you want some good doughnuts and you're in the Coon Rapids/Blaine area you'll be doing yourself a favor to stop in here. The only other doughnuts I've eaten around here have been from gas stations. The people leaving negative reviews are just here to complain. More for the rest of us, if you ask me. :
I am the owner of Continental Cafe and would like to respond to the negative review from Mr. Nordval. Mr. Nordval came in several times to buy donuts for customers of his and always complemented me for the great donuts we sold to him. Never once did he ever say the donuts were stale and he always came back for more. He even commented that they were so good that he had to refrain from eating all of them himself. After a few times coming in and purchasing the donuts he asked if he could put his order on credit and I said that was fine but would have to leave credit card information in case something happened that the bill wasn't paid. He agreed. Well, after about a month of ordering donuts, he never came back to pay and I had to start calling him. The last time I spoke to him he said he would come in that Friday to pay the bill. He never showed and I had no choice but to charge his credit card. I waited through the weekend until Monday. This is why he is mad. Because he had no intentions of paying for the donuts, I think. He called and complained and I finally had to speak to his boss and I credited his credit card back and ran hers to satisfy the charge. She was great and apologized for Mr. Nordval's behavior. His review is utterly false through and through. I have never looked at these things but from now on I will to refute and dispute negative reviews that are so far from the actual truth.
We've been coming here for years for donuts. There are a lot of different kinds to choose from, and they aren't too expensive. They also serve coffee and other food here, but I've never stopped for it. The owner is friendly, but a bit quiet. I don't mind, he's a nice man and I think he works hard. Thanks for keeping it up for us!!
I have bought doughnuts here at least 4 times now and they have all been great! The fritters are fantastic! Ultra crispy with a solid sugar glaze that hasn't liquified. Rivals the 3 Girls Bakery in Pike Street Market in Seattle for my favorite apple fritters! He also sells strawberry ones! If you know doughnuts, they are usually made early in the morning, so going later in the day means low selection. This cafe has at least 20 different kinds, so I think the reviews saying low variety must be going later in the day when it has been picked over. My daughter loves the frosted with rainbow sprinkles vanilla, chocolate and a strawberry glaze, which isn't just pink vanilla! There is also a great red velvet cake doughnut, as well as a fantastic sour cream old fashioned. There is a lighter eggy Kruller too! Love that he has the custard filled, as well as the kreme frostings. And several jelly filled. The price is right, and there are coupons on each dozen box for buy 12, get 6. Haven't tried the other food yet. I am just excited to find a local doughnut shop that makes great doughnuts!
We absolutely love the donuts at Continental Cafe. They offer a fantastic selection, and they always have a pink sprinkle donut for our daughter. Be sure to swing by for a dozen and support a local small business! You won’t regret it.
