Amigo Pancake House Restaurant

A lot of menu options but none of the combinations appealed to me. Almost ordered eggs benedict but its cheese sauce not hollandaise sauce. So I asked if there was a meal of just shredded hashbrowns and eggs. Server pointed out a great option for $5.45 ~ 2 eggs, hashbrowns, toast or pancakes. The eggs were undercooked and they brought me hashbrowns but not shredded. They tasted good but it was not what I wanted. I didn't end up finishing my meal. My 10 year old son enjoyed his French toast but I don't think it was any better than what I can make at home myself. It was convenient and worked great to kill some time but I would not go out of my way to eat here again.

My wife and I have been to several local chain and other restaurants for breakfast in the Tricities, BC area. Nothing touching Amigo's for a good wholesome breakfast. It is about fresh, good quality hot food displayed well for a more than a fair price. Then add in excellent service and you get what I mean. Not one thing on my plate or my wife's was less than perfect. I had ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast and my wife had the senior's breakfast with one medium poached egg, bacon and toast. For less than $20.00 with coffees for both meals they were just right. As for some reviewers talking about a greasy spoon place not sure where they went. I know greasy spoon restaurants and this is definitely not one of those. Way to go Amigo's. A family run business, and if they keep serving such good fare for breakfast we and others will be returning over an over again. Great value and good food. What more could you ask for?

So this is a cozy little cafe selling reasonably priced foods. The Mushroom Burger was delicious. The salad was fresh and good. Breakfast dish was awesome. The staff were friendly and always smiling. I am in love!What did I NOT like? The restrictive Self-aggrandizing attitude underlying the whole operation. We asked (for the $10.95 Steak Burger and Egg Plate) to kindly hold the hash-browns and hold the pancakes and instead replace those with a small bowl of salad. The server made a point of telling us that she was doing us a favor and they do not replace things normally. We got two fried eggs. Two ground beef patties. And a bowl of salad, for $10.95 and we must feel awful for asking a replacement. Had that not happened, they would get 5 stars.

Used to be a regular here until the previous owners retired and moved on. Decided it was time to try it under new owners. The menu is basically the same as are the prices - which still makes it good value as a greasy spoon-style eatery. However, service is an issue. Not so much in terms of time but they just don't seem to have a game plan to service customers. There were several order mix ups while we there and the kids serving seem to lack the confidence to proactively deal with people. The cash desk was a mess of hand written and computer printed orders, suggesting (again) they are just disorganized. By no means would I say not to visit but I truly hope they can sort out the service issues and fine tune things.
