Avaliação da contribuiçãoCute little pub with the normal food options....plus more! Their Mac & Cheese is GREAT! They also have quite a few beers on tap, including cider. Inside was a little loud but outside on the deck was very pleasant.
We stumbled upon this great 'pub' 4 or 5 years ago. Their promotions are excellent: free dinner on a birthday, free bubbly, etc on an anniversary, gifts galore for occasions galore. The owners know how to promote their product and there are several other locations around the lower mainland. How about $4 breakfast weekends at Hemmingways on Marine Drive in White Rock. Have to go early because it's packed, even in winter. The one in Coquitlam has over a dozen beers on tap. We especially enjoyed Canucks hockey nights where you can win a free round for the table if your 'hockey puck' number is a scorer.
In a group, with the beer flowing, this might be a decent venue, plenty of space to bring tables together. Aside from the old ceiling & the restored pulley fans attached to it, it's just a lot of wood & the whole room is dotted with the multiple TVs of the typical sports bar. All that wood is not necessarily a bad thing but sticky arms on the chair is! Just had wings, & they were small but well presented & pretty decent. Very pleasant young server & I wondered why she didn't grab me another blue cheese dip when the first one expired early. Turns out there was an extra charge for each little pot of blue cheese dressing, which l thought was a bit much but maybe that's a west coast thing, I'll have to pay attention as I eat in other locations out this way. Didn't see all the heavy Irish dishes mentioned in another review by the way, & that's what drew me there in the first place! Mostly standard north American pub fare with a notable 14oz burger that I might have tried on a hungrier occasion. Bottom line is that is was okay but not a place I will be trying to remember to return to on the next visit to the area.
We chose a variety of dishes for sharing and for the most part were all good. The wor wonton soup was probably the best. The calamari were overly spicy - just not what I was expecting.
Recently popped into this Townhall location for a beer and a bite after work. Despite the place being quite empty, the service was extremely slow. When we finally got our food, steak & frites, the meat was cold and so tough that it was inedible. The salad that came with it was not what was on the menu and was over dressed and extremely salty. The server eventually came by and noticed we had barely touched our food. When we told her the steak was like shoe leather, she took it away and said the manager would come speak to us - that never happened. We did however get the dinners taken off the bill so only paid for the beers. Not going back! Too bad too as we can walk there so makes it a nice mid- week option. Back to Joeys we go!
