Avaliação da contribuiçãoWe have had a few disappointing visits to this restaurant in the past, but this time was a pleasant surprise. Our meal was delicious and we had a very friendly and entertaining server. Despite his limited English skills, his personality added to the overall experience. My husband and I have had some negative experiences at this restaurant before, so we usually go to the Katy location instead, which is only 25 minutes away. However, this time we decided to give this location another try and we were not disappointed. The food was great and the service was even better. Third time's the charm!
This restaurant is not as good as it used to be! The dinner menu options are too expensive and the dishes contain frozen shrimp. The steaks are not as described on the menu. This is not a 5-star restaurant, but they charge high prices. Very disappointed.
We reserved a table but were shown to a booth in the bar area, we were reseated at a table on request. The waiter was pleasant and took our order but brought our main meal out before our salads. I cancelled my salad. The waiter did not came back to offer us Parmesan until half way through our main meal and he never came back once to pour us more wine (which we did ourselves of course . A lady came by (did not introduce herself but we assumed she was the manager and asked if all was ok, we told her 'No ' and gave her the details. She did apologize but never checked on us again except to remove a finished plate. The waiter did come back with a desert menu and was certainly very pleasant when it came time to bring the check. Maybe a bigger tip was on the line in his mind (but not ours! . The food was very good but they have some way to go with service, and the seating is very poor and uncomfortable.
Following being seated, we received no service whatsoever until one of our party flagged down a woman passing by and asked her for a water. Before I could inquire as to who on their wait staff was responsible for our our table, this woman took off. She then returned with “one” glass of water rather than bringing water for gor the whole table. Strike one! I then inquired as to who was waiting our table and this same woman snapped back “I'm working on that.” No apology for abysmal service, just a curt reply. Note that, at the most, approximately 25% of the tables were occupied and this is on a Friday night at 6:30 PM. Add to that, two of the waiters were just standing by the kitchen chatting each other up the whole time we had been sitting there. Strike two! Anyhow, we finally get one of the waiters who had been chatting with his co-worker as our waiter. His name was Jerry and, aside from not coming over to the table when we first arrived, he was really good from that point forward. He gave some excellent drink suggestions and was very congenial, as well as attentive with checking in on us. The food was very good. The only disappointment was the bread pudding which was extremely dense rather than being the traditional fluffy consistency. Fortunately, the sauce and ice cream were quite good and helped to choke down the less than stellar pudding. My only other beef are the chairs in this restaurant. In my youth, had my mother used one of these chairs to sit me on when I had misbehaved, recidivism would have been reduced to zero. These things are brutal! Strike three! In summary, I can't see myself rushing back in the near future. Although the food was good, it's the pairing of good service, with a good meal, in a comfortable environment which makes dining out enjoyable. Union Kitchen was unable to cover all the bases.
The brunch was delicious and the drinks were excellent! While the service wasn't the greatest, our food definitely made up for it.
