Avaliação da contribuiçãoDuring a recent trip to Boston, we visited this bar a couple of times primarily because our hotel didn't have a bar, and this one was the closest option. It was convenient for us after a day filled with activities when we wanted to relax near our hotel. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have chosen to go there, but I'm really glad we did. Although it's definitely a dive bar, it turned out to be a great spot to chat with some of the friendly locals. The bar staff was also very welcoming. Just a heads up, this place only accepts cash, but there is an ATM available. They don't serve food, but you can bring your own if you like!
The second room features a few small booths on the left, a long table with stools on the right, and a $0.50 pool table in the center. The clientele varies from the early-morning crowd (the Breakfast Club) arriving promptly at 8 a.m. to folks in their 20s and 30s looking for a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of drinks. The pricing is very reasonable: $2 PBR drafts and $8 PBR pitchers, along with $2.50 Henry Weinhard's beers and $8.50 pitchers. While they have a few other taps, the selection primarily includes standard domestics and a couple of IPAs. On Sundays during NFL games, there is usually free food available for everyone, though I can't say where it comes from since there isn't a kitchen. In warmer months, there’s a back door leading to a paved area with a grill, table, and chairs. Currently, drinks aren't allowed outside due to neighbor complaints, but it's still a pleasant spot to hang out. I’ve consistently enjoyed my time here, even if my only conversation partner was one of the bartenders. If you’re after a laid-back atmosphere to enjoy drinks with friends, this is an ideal choice, and you’ll encounter a diverse crowd. Dot Tavern opens at 8 a.m. from Monday to Saturday and at 10 a.m. on Sundays. Please note, it’s cash only (there is an ATM on-site with a $1.50 service fee).
This is one of the best dive bars I've ever experienced. They offer pool, darts, keno, and strong drinks at great prices. It really can't get any better than this!
This is where my best friend and I started our first pub crawl in Boston. It is a dive bar in the best sense of the word. It was the perfect way to start our night and it is also a place I would go again. Mostly locals but we seemed to fit right in. The staff was amazing. Kevin was great and put up with us California girls. He took pictures for us and even let me video tape his accent. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Plus only $3 beers! But it is cash only!
If you love a super chill vibe, playing pool, and making friends with locals... then by all means I'll see you there. Otherwise don't expect it to be something it's not, and complain about it.
