Avaliação da contribuiçãoIsn't it interesting how people drive miles and miles from your own neighborhood just for a good meal, but sometimes forget to check what in their immediate surroundings? A few years back, I was exactly the same way, but now, as I drive through the familiar streets of my city, I try to peel my eyes for new or at least unknown restaurants that can show up. One day, a small dining company called Serrano's Mexican cuisine attracted me attention, so I kept it on my radar as a future food stop. One night I went with my family to check it out and boy, I'm glad I did. Compared to the Mexican restaurants that are currently in Duarte, Serranos is the best that this city has, but also on its own, Serrano’s is simply excellent! I've been back a few times since my first visit. What always draws me is the quality of food. For example, I love her corstortillas that are thick and keeps good when you eat a soft taco. I have eaten my share of soft tacos, where just one up can become a mess as it tears and the Taco filling ends over your fingers and plate. I have never had this problem with Serranos Tacos and while the fillings fail, at least my tortillas remain intact. The other big thing about her soft tacos is her generous portions. Generally, in the sense that meat filling is not hidden under hills and hills of salad and vegetables, up to the point that you are not even sure whether you have ordered a beef tac or a chicken tac or that there is meat at all. Instead, you get wonderfully spiced meaty tacos that are simply dressed with fresh fenced onions, cilantro and your choice of one of their homemade salsas. I really enjoy her beef bags. You would think it is not much too taquitos and that, how can you possibly ruin them? Oh, but you can. I had taquitos that are boiled to the point that it is a choir, even bite them because they are just so hard. If you happen to get your chompers in them, what you can pull out with your teeth are long pieces of meat that are dry and chewing. Like the tacos, the taquitos at Serrano use the same tortillas that give them a peasant texture, but one that has a beautiful tie to it. The beef filling is also delicate and moist. Other items that made me a happy diner include their Milanesa steak, which has been coated with a golden crispy dough and actually remains while cutting into the meat. I also tried her sopis and her Quesadillas. So far everything I've been trying to be good and everyone I've led has come back to me with kudos. So the morality of history is that in your search for a good meal, always check what is in your neighborhood. You can only find your next favorite food.
