Koi Palace - Dublin

I have mixed feelings about this place. 4 stars for their dim sum 2 stars for their dinner menu. We've been here several times and their dim sum is pretty good. It's a little pricey, but I think it's worth it. However, their dinner menu is another story. We came here for dinner last week and it was very disappointing. Most of the dishes didn't taste good (except for the roast duck the fried rice). The waiter recommended a few dishes and unfortunately, none of them were good. In fact, I feel like they just threw random things together to make a dish. The ingredients didn't go well with each other and the flavor was off. I wouldn't come here for dinner again. The service has always been good; they come and fill up your tea/water quite frequently. I'd say stick with their dim sum menu during the day!

I've been to koi palace so many times (both the dublin and Milpitas locations) but always leave questioning the hype. Long wait times and steep prices for mediocre dim sum. Most of the things we ordered came lukewarm, so I'm assuming they weren't fresh. We got seated in the left corner of the restaurant, so it was really hard to flag down a waitress when we needed help. HEADS UP: they automatically charge 18% gratuity which honestly is quite shocking since the service is quite non existent

Dim sum carts are back baby! I hope they are here to stay, this place is still crazy busy on the weekends. I highly recommend downloading the Dinfo app and making a reservation or joining the waitlist before leaving the house. Keep in mind that once you make it to the top of the list they call your number three times and then move on to the next party. I'm not sure how strict they are in enforcing that. The best part is that you can see how many people are ahead of you and how long they have waited. Now comes the fun part, when you get seated you'll get a menu with a pen and they will ask what kind of tea you want. A few dim sum carts will roll by with the main hits like siu mai, ha gow, chicken feet, tofu rolls, sticky rice, etc. I love seeing this back after the pandemic because you get to see the dishes especially if you're not super familiar with the names. By the time we were seated around lunch time on a Saturday they were sold out of all the baked items including the baked bbq pork buns, egg tarts, and even mango pudding. That was really a bummer. Overall, I like their modernized menu items but it does feel a bit overpriced considering the ambiance. I enjoy eating at Palette in San Mateo because the interior is cleaner and more updated.

It has been a while since we last had dim sum, and Koi Palace will always be one of our favorite places to go! We prefer to arrive early to avoid the long lines. My mother likes to bring her own tea leaves, as they charge $1 per person for the tea service. Our favorite dishes to order are the ha gow, pork ribs, chives and shrimp dumplings, fried glutinous dumplings, and baked BBQ pork buns. We also enjoy other dishes like steamed beef balls, BBQ pork puffs, Crispy Fried Tofu Skin Wraps with Shrimp, and shrimp and BBQ pork rice rolls. Our bill came to $112 for 4 people. On special occasions, we like to indulge in beef chow fun and deep-fried shrimp stuffed crab claw.

Going on the weekend for lunch definitely requires a reservation unless you're okay with waiting. Use Dinfo to book a spot (the app is a bit janky, so make sure you take a screenshot of your booking). Food is amazing. A bit pricy, but it's absolutely delicious. Come with a big group so you can try as many things as possible.
