Avaliação da contribuiçãoWe got to Chat Noir at 6pm, and it was closed! It was Monday, but the site didn’t say anything and Open Table took our reservation. We saved the day by going across the street to Matisse, which was delicious and lovely.
They did not disappoint the beef Bourgogne - it is the reason we left!
Server wasn't polite. The food was not served as ordered and when it returned from the kitchen it was very cold. Beef Bourguinon was hard. Vegetables were ice cold. Table next to us had 3 of 4 Entrees back in the kitchen for the same problems.
Classic French home bistro. Saw at the bar and ordered garden salad (only moderate), but had the kidneys with mushrooms as the main that was unforgettable. Visually it was not very appealing, it was a plate with braided calfs (I believe) kidneys and cut sautéed mushrooms in a mustard sauce. I remember wondering if I was actually able to eat the whole plate because it seemed a bit crazy to look at. But, textural it was light and smooth, the sauce was subtle and all worked so nicely together that I blown it up. The house red worked well to accompany. The staff was very attentive, many families feed this evening and, with burning rain outside, I felt comfortable and at home.
On Valentine's Day, we arrived in Montreal late in the afternoon and realized we had forgotten to make a reservation for dinner. We decided to dine at Le Chat Noir since it was conveniently located near our hotel. The restaurant's atmosphere was lovely, blending the charm of an old building with modern decor. We opted for the Table d'Hote and were delighted with our meal, savoring every bite. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff. While the restaurant wasn't very busy, we wondered why more people hadn't discovered it yet. We plan to return for another dining experience to explore more menu options and see if the restaurant has gained more popularity.
