Avaliação da contribuiçãoThe restaurant was uncomfortably warm with no air flow. The food was just average. The chicken skewers were fatty, and the spring rolls all tasted the same. The prawn crackers and prawn chili Bao were the highlights of the meal. The beef gyoza was also quite tasty. The rest of the dishes lacked flavor and flair. The cocktails were refreshing, but the small tables made ordering a challenge. Overall, the experience was okay, but there are better dining options nearby.
I visited this restaurant for lunch on a Friday with a group of 3 people. We were able to find a seat at the bar, which was lucky as the restaurant was quite busy. I have a milk intolerance and requested a list of items without milk, which the staff provided promptly. However, the rest of the service was rushed and impolite. Our server made mistakes with our order and included duplicates of items we had only requested once. The staff seemed annoyed when we pointed this out. The quality of the food was also average, particularly the dim sum. I would have given a rating of 3, but the poor service lowered my overall experience.
Ping Pong is comparable to Chevy's for Mexican cuisine and P.F. Chang's for Chinese food. It is essentially a decent quality restaurant found in malls. The ambiance is modern and sleek, but lacks a cozy feel. The menu includes detailed explanations and instructional photos, which isn't always a good sign. The char sui bao was a standout dish with a delicate bun and flavorful filling. They offer a wide variety of interesting steamed dumplings. However, they also incorporate fusion dishes like Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken with cashew nut dumplings, and chocolate and banana spring rolls, which may not be to everyone's taste. Surprisingly, vinegar was not available when requested, which is unusual for a dim sum restaurant. The steamed dumplings had thick and slightly gummy skins, and were wrapped tortellini style instead of the traditional way. The tea was served in a poorly designed manner, making it difficult to drink for the first 10 minutes. In conclusion, Ping Pong is a solid option, but I would choose a more authentic spot in Chinatown over it.
I love Ping Pong! And this branch is no exception. A huge place with nice seating areas, this would be great for large groups. It was empty on Monday at 6pm and the service was a little slow but staff were friendly. Anyone who hasn't been before it is a dim sum restaurant with super tasty cocktails. Once seated you are given a menu, pencil and checklist of everything on the menu where you then mark how many of each thing you want. There are different sections on the menu steamed, soup, baked, fried and rice dishes so there is TONNES to choose from. The recommendation is about 3 4 items each but each of these has 3 4 dim sum on each plate. We went all out at 8 to share and there was just TOO much food. Next time I would get less of the steamed dishes as too many became a bit of a stodge fest! My absolute favourites are the roast pork puffs, potato and edamame cake and char sui buns. At the moment they also have a Yuzu matcha finger cake which was so pretty and packed full of fresh flavours.
Went here on Saturday. Food was alright, but my partner and I now have food poisoning. The food came out worryingly fast so I'm not sure how freshly prepared they are? Also 3 serves per dish seems like a really silly portion? People commonly come in pairs or fours. Staff were friendly and well informed, but I don't think it makes up for the fact that I am now spending my Saturday night feeling awful.
