Overcharge for Wine On the shelf, the price for all the Cans of Wine were 7.00 each, our receipt said 15.00 for 2 wines. The Till person did not scan a bar-code, but used some touch screen I could not see, but the receipt said 2 white wines (one was actually Red, though same price). Noticed too late, hopefully profit goes to HS. By Law, if you change your till price, you have to update the price at display point, especially alcohol. Not Impressed, or was I conned deliberately, hopefull not. Overpriced Everything 6.50 for a Ham Cheese Baguette 8.00+ for some of the Baguettes displayed at Hat counter, 11.00+ for an Open Sandwich. They are taking the Michael. 28.00 bill for 4 items, 2 Ham Cheese Baguettes 2 cans of Wine (187ml). If visiting the Castle, eat before or after, plenty of more reasonably priced places at top of Royal Mile.
My wife and I visited Edinburgh castle today and had a really nice break from the castle and its museums here in the red coat cafe. It had quite a range of offerings for thirsty and weary castle viewers. If you’re looking for a snack or min. Meal I don’t think you will be disappointed here. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Excellent Cafe with the best scones! They have great service and a plethora of options. We had brekkie here and came back for lunch since we were still touring the castle. We had some great sandwiches. Prices are good and quality is outstanding. Plus, we love eating at historical sites. It's more magical. Not sure why it gets such and reviews.
Whilst a nice space, warm and comfortable, the process of ordering, paying receiving something as simple as a coffee. There was no system to process these in the order received, or if there is such a system it either wasn’t working or was being ignored. It was frustrating standing waiting for my coffees while others were receiving their orders. There was also confusion over what some of the orders were for, with clear tension between the (one) barista and the staff taking the orders payment. This should be a well oiled machine, they do this every day, the castle controls the number of visitors at any one time, so I would have thought that the lunchtime numbers would be pretty consistent. Only one barista for that crowd? Crazy.
We popped in here needing to warm up and fill up during a trip to the castle. It was perfect. Calm atmosphere with plenty of space. We had some lovely soup and bread but there were plenty of other options. Chocolate caramel shortcake was delicious!
