The Confederation Lounge - Edmonton

Super expensive but worth it for a fancy experience. Didn't actually get to eat, but the cocktail I had was amazing, and the lounge is gorgeous.

I have always loved going to the Hotel Macdonald over Christmas. I invited my sister and brother and we were fine with dining in the lounge on Christmas day. When I first arrived to be seated, I was a bit taken back by a young hostess who was trying to speak to us with a mouth full of something. Not really what I'm used to in any elevated setting. The food was very subpar for spending over $350. The service however was excellent. It's too bad that your food doesn't match up to your exceptional servers. Though it has been a tradition for me to visit the Hotel and dine over Christmas, I feel I will forego this next year. M. brodeur [hidden email]

We used to frequent this restaurant, but now we come here less for the food and more for the disappointment. The quality of the food has really declined, especially considering the price. Our experience was marred by being told they were out of lamb at 6:45 pm, only to later find out there was lamb available. The dishes that did arrive were cold and unappetizing, with tough meat and mostly pasta in the beef ragu. The portions were also underwhelming, particularly the ribeye which was mostly muscle and gristle. To make matters worse, despite informing them of having an 85 year old in a wheelchair, we were seated at a table with coffee table height tables. Overall, a shocking and disappointing dining experience.

The service at this restaurant was excellent, and the Christmas ambiance was stunning. The staff were incredibly accommodating and contributed to the fantastic evening we experienced.
