Am Politician - Eilean Siar

After exploring Barra, we decided to stop in for lunch. The scenery was stunning, with the beautiful islands in view. We enjoyed a delightful meal - I had monkfish scampi and my friend Karen had hand-dived scallops, both of which were fantastic. The staff and locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming, even to our dog who wouldn't stop barking. They even gave him some fish and chips in a doggie bag! Thank you for a lovely lunch, we will definitely be back again. xx

Proper monkfish scampi (the best ever) and superb fish and chips. Friendly helpful staff, super views. One of the best places we have ever eaten in. We can’t wait to come again.

This restaurant is charming and bustling. We have visited multiple times and I always return for the amazing scallops. Make sure to make a reservation as it is always busy.

We were on holiday, and at the end of every day, one phrase which was guaranteed to raise a smile was, shall we go to the politician? Such a warm and welcoming place with delightful staff. You won’t go away hungry, they serve hearty portions of delicious home-made food. I feel quite sad writing this review and thinking back to our happy times last week; I’m yearning to be there.The politician felt very much like our local in such a short space of time and it’s a highlight of our stay on South Uist. Thank you all for making us so welcome.
