The barn is a charming indoor venue with a neat a little deck and sprawling back yard with picnic tables and fire pits. They've got an interesting cocktail list, however the consensus at our table was that most of the drinks were overwhelmingly sweet. The starters (eggrolls, cauliflower, and brussels sprouts) are all fantastic. Also enjoyed the fish chips, and the burgers were cooked well but the bacon was meh and it could have used some sauce. The kale caesar salad was flavorful but very tough, and lacked that crouton crunch you want in a caesar. The lemon linguini was quite citrusy, but very watery and plain otherwise. It's a fantastic venue with good staff but the quality and in some cases the portions of the food and drink do not match up with the quite shockingly high prices. Despite that feedback, I would recommend a visit if you don't mind a little sticker shock, especially if it's a nice evening and you can enjoy the lovely outdoor space. I 'm only giving Smith Farms 3 stars because our server Mackenzie was so FANTASTIC!! My husband and I haven 't been excited about excepting an invite to dinner here after several disappointing experiences. The meals are often disappointing, as was this last experience. I ordered a caprese flat bread thinking I was getting a pizza, not the case, I got a thick quesadilla with fries. This seemed very odd to me, perhaps they should indicate such things on their menu. I watched pizzas being cooked outside thinking that was my dinner, nope, if you want pizza you have to go to the restaurant next door, I wish I had known that. My husband ordered a burger, simple enough, medium rare, it arrived VERY well done, why ask a temp?? I 'm sticking with my original review, Smith Farm has a lot to improve on.
Second time here, and was disappointed in the service. The waitress(Elizabeth) was not good at all. The service was slow waited over 15 minutes before being served. She was not knowledgeable about our drink order and brought the wrong drinks. We had to tell her to remove our dirty appetizers plates when we were done. She was clueless when we our second order of drinks came to take away our glasses from our first round. The food order was good, but a bit tacky about blackening out dishes that they no longer had on the menu. The entertainment was nice but a bit too loud and you had to talk loud to have a discussion at the table. I will say that the food was good, but there were too many strikes against them to come back again. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4
As Falmouth residents, we have been enjoying Smith Farm for years! The food is always excellent and fresh. The music and charming rustic farm atmosphere provide a relaxing and cozy vibe away from the hustle and bustle of the Old Port. Other reviewers have referenced some young and inexperienced waitstaff (including at times my own kids, family members, and friends). I commend the owner and managers for making the best of a time when staff shortages are the norm by employing and training local young people. If you are bring your patience, kindness, and empathy, you will observe a young and fun staff working hard to bring you the best experience while learning skills that will hopefully contribute to this struggling industry in the future. It’s definitely a place you want to check out! Kid-friendliness: Outside lawn is perfect for kids to run around. There are chickens, ducks and goats to check out, and often toy trucks to play with. Parents can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
