My initial thoughts on Koja kitchen were not so hot, but I've actually grown to like them a lot. I guess I was eating the wrong menu item lol Actually, korean food as a whole is an acquired taste, in my opinion.. and the selections in fresno are so few. We first tried this place out when they opened in 2016. We ordered the kamikaze fries, the beef koja, and the ckn bowl with brown rice. The rice bowl came out soggy, which was a real disappointment. Leaving this restaurant, my favorite part was the ice cream macaron we bought before we left. We never came back. I recently began frequenting this place in the last 6 mos. My new favorite menu item is the beef koja. I love the crispy rice bun. I also enjoy the beef tacos. Although i have to say they taste better with kimchi, so i always order a side!
I definitely was super stoked to finally make it to KoJa. I've seen the place on Yelp before but hadn't been able to make it out. I finally did and I'll for sure be a repeat customer. There's an extensive menu (if you're not there for the KoJa) of bowls and salads, so I'm definitely interested in trying those out. I'm a huge fan of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives so it's a check off the list from that list. Huge restaurant with multiple TVs and places to sit. I ordered the short rib koja, which came out to around $9.50. Definitely overpriced, but the meat was extremely well cooked and flavorful. I really liked the rice bun concept, but was just pretty much a grilled rice patty (but props for the idea). My friend ordered a bowl and got some kimchi on the side which I would not recommend (there's better options on the menu). The bowl was most definitely more worth the price point (same as the koja) so when I come back I'll order that next time. Pretty quick service (we were the only ones there) and they used the vibrating tiles to pick up orders- definitely a fan of that.
Why are you guys closed? Y’all need to open up. Smh ya made me sad today! Lol. Hurry up though.
We recently visited the Fresno area and my daughter and I just happened to stumble upon this interesting mix of Korean and Japanese cuisine. It's pretty obvious this place was borne from a food truck. It's the type of fusion of foods I've come to appreciate and admire. The restaurant itself is relatively large, comfortable, and well maintained. We went on a Saturday for lunch and the place was not busy. Service was perfectly fine. The food was great a fusion of Korean and Japanese to form a wonderful and new food experience. I wish they had a restaurant in Los Angeles.
