Grands Veranda - Gaevle

As a business traveler staying at the Elite Hotel often I spend quite some time at their restaurant. The staff are friendly, the service is good and the foods is above expectations. The best thing is the daily option, where you have a new menu item at a low price every day. If you're stay at the hotel or just want to go out for dinner, I can recommend this place.

This restaurant is situated in the central part of the town. The interior is warm and cosy. We ordered the fish of the day and that was hake. It was very delicious with a tasty sauce that made the meal very nice. We had a Sancerre with the fish and that made it still better. The service was very friendly and observing.

The Grands Veranda has two different areas of dining. A formal dining area with a beautiful restored ceiling and a more contemporary relaxed bar/dining area. The staff serving were extremely polite and helpful and spoke very good English. Menu was also available in English. All the food served was of a very high quality and beautifully presented. Our family sat in the formal dining area and we all experienced a relaxed and enjoyable evening. Thank you.

I have been here several times, for breakfast, lunch, dinners, and drinks. The food has kept an ok standard, a pinch of salt needed for most dishes but usually nicely cooked and tasty. My brother got some prawns one time that were off, and we didn´t get a price-cut or free desert or anything, which is a bit cheap. The breakfast is average hotel type, you can make your own waffles which would have been nice if there had been some flavour (like salt or sugar added to the waffle-mixture. Mine tasted of nothing at all. Anyway, the food isnt bad overall, but the service has only kept up to average standard once (and that time I knew the guy.. . I think they might be under-staffed, but that should not become the customers problem . I have been seated at dirty tables, my orders have been neglected (missed and no formal apologies when I complain. The place is beautifully decorated though, and if you are not in a rush and come for a drinnk or two it is worth a visit. They have nice wines by the glass.

I went to the Hotel Elite resturant on a business trip to Gavle and all of us got a combined menu of three courses. A soup for starter, beef for main and chocolate cake and ice cream for desert. Every single dish was first class and all of us were very satisfied. The price was also very acceptable. The menu isn´t big and the selection isn´t big but I guess what´s on it they do well.
