Avaliação da contribuiçãoVisiting from out of town, we stumbled upon this chain restaurant. We were meeting with local friends who gave it a thumbs up, so we knew we had chosen a good place. I was looking for a mix of Tex-Mex and Louisiana Creole and Cajun food, and wow, did I get a heck of a very large eclectic menu! So many very cool items to choose from! We ended up eating way too much, but everything we had was good. Started off with some boudin balls with dipping sauce. This was followed by a bowl of chicken and sausage gumbo (tasted very much like homemade) and shrimp grits that came with a side salad. Everything tasted great! The ambiance was very kitschy with lots of colors and fluorescent lights and memorabilia on the walls. The booths and tables were very packed in and the restaurant was full that night (I suspect it is fall most nights) so the noise factor was an issue. Too noisy to hear the singer at the front of the restaurant and we were about 4 tables away.Next time, I'd like to try one of their po boys or tacos as they have a long list of possibilities for each.
I went to two Tia Juanita's in the last few days. First was in Winnie I stopped on the way to Louisiana thinking I'd go to Waffle House I yelped Tia's which was across the street and went for a try. It's a giant menu, but server talked me into fried catfish strips with shrimp. It was pretty good. Hush puppies were great. On the way home a week later, I thought I'd stop again, but this time it was in Orange. I ordered the same thing but I don't think it was catfish this time I think it was tilapia. The reason I say that is because I am allergic to something in tilapia because I had a tilapia style reaction the next day. It could've been tilapia the first time and The second gave me an overdose. Zyrtec and a ton of water and waiting a couple of days relieves the symptoms. Anyway, the food is good. Just verify that it's the fish you think it is and you'll be fine.
Love the food. New Orleans shrimp is my favorite dish. Lots of great options. Live music on weekends. Good cocktails and drinks.
Very enjoyable dinner with my wife and friends. She got the shrimp and grits. It was very good but on the spicey side, and she likes spice!. I had the redfish that came with 2 giant shrimp and rice and veggies. Both meals came with a nice side. salad. We all had boudin balls. They were good but we have had better. Our guests had gator and nachos with shrimp. I had a giant drink that was on the specialty menu, and my wife had a frozen drink. We shared the little bowl of gumbo. Excellent tasting. We were stuffed. Good service and live music. The only complaint was that they charged 1 dollar for each bottle of sams club water because of the issue with Beaumont water.
Wow! What a great place to eat! A hidden gem. But if you ask people in Beaumont where to eat... this place will surely be mentioned by everyone. The menu is kind of wild. It has all kinds of different food... from cajun style food to steak to Mexican food. It's hard to choose. But I did. And I chose the ribeye. Swear to goodness.... One of the juiciest steaks I've ever had anywhere. The atmosphere is cantina-come-as-you-are; bring a friend; drink some beer and have a good time kinda place. We had about 6 in our party... service was still great. These ladies are used to giving fast pace type of service If you are in Beaumont... you can't go wrong here!
