Fou Du Roi - Gatineau

This is an old-style tavern with its own charm even if St. Joseph blvd. is uninspiring and the parking a pain. Some evenings it's a rowdy meet market, but check it out for brunch. Nice place (with veranda) for a cold beer or two on a hot afternoon.

This is the second time we have been there and we have never been disappointed with the food or the atmosphere. We have always gone for lunch so we have not been there for the evening / bar crowd -- however the food is really good. I was surprised to find such good food in a bar. French Onion soup and Chicken Wraps were great. Nice old wooden bars, multi level bars......very nice atmosphere. Will be back on our next trip through town.

We have good time when our hiv awareness group goes there on Saturday nights for drinks and dancing, very accommodative to our situation and needs.

Nice to go out, have a drink and relax. here is more the typical pick up bar. Old man wanting a young barbie and vice versa. hey you know in advance. Can et a kick out of whats going on. :) The food is good, not great.

Staff is very friendly. There is no food served - it's a throw back to the old hotels (taverns.) Beer is ice cold and there's a 2 for 1 deal everyday.
