Schatull - Gengenbach

This was our second holiday in Gengenbach and again we dined at Schatull nearly every night. There are other excellent restaurants in Gengenbach but none come close to the value, atmosphere, service and great food in Schatull. Indoor and outdoor tables. Good range of beer,...wine and spirits too. Naturally, we spoke German as much as we could but they even have an English menu and the helpful staff speak enough English to help out.

Loved it here. Very nicely decorated inside and pleasant staff. They have an English menu which is useful instead of relying on google translate. Food arrived after a short wait and was delicious with generous portions. Very well priced too.

Ate here at our first night in Gengenbach. Great atmosphere and it was obviously used by locals and tourists alike. Waiter did speak very good English, which was a great help to a non-German speaking couple like us. We both ordered Rosti, with ham and...fried egg for a main course. I had a desert of apple fritters with ice cream. My husband had ice cream only for desert. Several large glasses of local wine and local beer (waiter helped us choose) and the bill was euros. Food and service were excellent. We did come back on another night and enjoyed a drink at the bar. Again, great to soak up the atmosphere. They do not take card payments cash only.

Wandered into the square where this pub is and the clouds came over so we decided to dive in. Had a great beer and lovely local wine with some fantastic food which hit the spot after a day out ! English menu too which made...life easier! Great value, friendly staff good food

Comemos aqui na nossa primeira noite em Gengenbach. Excelente ambiente e foi obviamente usado por moradores e turistas. Garçom falava inglês muito bem, o que foi uma grande ajuda para um casal que não falava alemão como nós. Nós dois pedimos Rosti, com presunto e ... ovo frito como prato principal. Comi uma sobremesa de bolinhos de maçã com sorvete. Meu marido teve sorvete apenas para deserto. Vários copos grandes de vinho local e garçom de cerveja local nos ajudaram a escolher e a conta foi em euros. Comida e serviço foram excelentes. Nós voltamos em outra noite e apreciamos uma bebida no bar. Mais uma vez, ótimo para absorver a atmosfera. Eles não aceitam pagamentos com cartão apenas em dinheiro
