La Carreta Mexican

Martin and his team are excellent. Derek and Eric are two of their excellent waitstaff. Our favorite restaurant in Gilmer!!

The food at La Caretta is...edible....and presents well on the plate. The food is bland, at best, and needs seasoning. The salsa has no heat and very little flavor. The staff is friendly, but they pay more attention to their phones than they do to the customers. The music that they play feels authentic and is the only thing mexican about this restaurant.

Server asked 5 million questions, even after we gave her every detail of our order, which still was incorrect. I'm going to assume she was new and give the benefit of the doubt on her behalf. Even so, the food was a disappointment and order wasn't correct on 2 out of the 4 orders. Service was not good as drinks weren't refilled and server only returned to bring food and check. They weren't busy, so there was no excuse as to why the server never returned. We won't be returning to this restaurant.

Dont get the grilled chicken. Pounded flat and tough. Flavor was just ok. Stuffed avacado Was just half an avacado with chicken covered in a white queso. Wife said was ok. Nephew said tamales were good.
