After a crowded subway ride to Hillhead, I arrived on Byres Road and found Avenue G. Known for their excellent locally roasted coffee, Avenue G has built a strong and loyal following over the years. In addition to this location, they also have another branch on Great Western Road where they have their bakery.
Beautiful sweet wee place in byres street, perfect for brunettes, I tried their matcha tee and they were so good! comes with honey to add more sweet
A brilliant coffee shop that made me fall in love with coffee. I didn't know an espresso could be that tasty! A good selection of teas too. Their cakes and food always hit the spot and their staff are as friendly as can be. Whenever I have a spare 30 minutes and a book to read there's no question about where I'd be going.
Top Marks All Round. Popped in here for some breakfast and a coffee. First impressions were excellent. The whitewashed walls and modern décor are spot on and it has a lovely ambience. My server (Sebastian) recommended the eggs cocotte and was happy to chat about the process involved in preparing their coffee and other café related things. When the food arrived, it was well presented and a delight. The latte was also superb with a real kick yet silky smooth. To top it off, the prices were very reasonable considering where it is. So, a faultless display by people who are obviously passionate about what they do. Highly recommended.
Check the prices. The food and coffee here are good but the prices are high and please make sure you check that before ordering £4 for a bacon roll is steep for a coffee shop on Byres Road. I know they say it's the best sourced ingredients but sadly it tasted like most other bacon rolls. The sandwich I had was £6 and again for the surroundings I found it to be right at the top of the price bracket. If I were in a restaurant or a hotel it would feel far more normal to be paying those prices but not in a cafe.......even on Byres Road.
